Kelly Services QC Lab Technician in University Park, Illinois

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a QC Lab Technician near University Park, IL.

6-week contract position

Shift: Monday – Friday 7:30am-4pm

Compensation: $24-$26/hr DOE

Overview:

The Lab Technologist is responsible for collecting and analyzing retain samples, validating documentation for incoming resale/raw materials, and supporting the Shipping/Receiving team with quality-related troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect retain samples and conduct quality testing on incoming raw materials (oils, vitamins, minerals, etc.)

  • Verify incoming paperwork to ensure products meet specifications; review limits, lot numbers, and resolve discrepancies

  • Review, edit, and post Certificates of Analysis; link certificates to item codes for the shipping department

  • Assist warehouse and distribution teams with troubleshooting quality and specification issues, including inspecting trailers, identifying missing supplier labels, and checking returned totes for insect activity

  • Prepare expiry date lists for incoming materials

  • Coordinate Returned Material Authorization (RMA) processes; determine eligibility for re-work and perform internal quality testing as needed

  • Manage supplier-related non-conformance issues; communicate with suppliers regarding product returns, credits, or shelf-life extensions

  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to receiving materials and product sampling

  • Manage incoming damages; collect product information, quantities, and photos to resolve issues, and update status of re-workable products

  • Contribute to ongoing quality projects and ensure effective tracking of incoming materials

  • Follow Food Safety and Quality requirements as per Prerequisite programs, HACCP plans, CCP monitoring, and SQF code

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality Supervisor/Manager

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, GMPs, and HACCP requirements

Qualifications:

  • Science degree required (Food Science preferred)

  • Working knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety, and GMPs in food plants preferred

  • Strong background in food science, with strong organizational skills preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong follow-through

  • Proficient in MS Office and related computer skills
