The Salvation Army Performing Arts Instructor in Union, New Jersey
Overview
The Summer Performing Arts Instructors will assist the New Jersey Arts Department with the preparations and operation of the Christian, faith-based, traveling programs: NJ Arts on Tour and NJ Music and Arts Camp. The instructors will act as an instructor, stage hand, and program coordinator.
Responsibilities
Teach and lead classes in dance, drama, timbrels, fine arts, etc. to youth and teens.
Lead and prepare other Arts Department programs as needed, such as, technique, devotions, etc.
Assist in day-to-day office work- copying, filing, organizing, printing, etc.
Assist as a member of the tech crew for NJ Arts on Tour showcases and Music and Arts Camp finales.
Help create, develop, and purchase any costumes, props, sets, or materials needed.
Travel to the various NJ Arts on Tour locations each week using own transportation.
Participate in all necessary trainings needed prior to the start of the NJ Arts on Tour Program.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
High school diploma or equivalent
Have a background in the performing arts (dance, timbrels, drama, fine arts, etc.)
Feel comfortable teaching youth about Christian faith.
Be able to lift and carry arts equipment- drama blocks, etc.
Have prior experience in preparing and teaching arts classes.
Enjoy and have prior experience working with youth (specifically ages 7-16).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be willing to support and/or lead faith-based kids’ activities and programming.
Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
