Job Title: 3rd Shift Chocolate Production Operator

Job Description

This 3rd shift role focuses on safely producing high-quality chocolate used in all finished products. You will manually handle ingredients, operate and monitor production equipment, complete accurate production documentation, and support sanitation activities while working closely with a small team. The position requires consistent heavy lifting and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Produce chocolate according to established formulas and written instructions, ensuring consistent quality for all products.

  • Request ingredients from the warehouse and verify that the correct materials and quantities are received.

  • Add ingredients such as oil, butter, sugar, and other components into refiners, mixers, silos, and tanks following precise recipes.

  • Monitor scales, tanks, and related equipment to ensure they are filled to the correct capacity and operating within specified parameters.

  • Cut and open bags of ingredients and safely transfer contents into the appropriate machines.

  • Palletize bags and boxes of product, consistently lifting and stacking items weighing 35 to 50 pounds.

  • Perform accurate data entry and complete production and quality paperwork by hand, ensuring records are audit-ready.

  • Maintain clear, legible, and accurate production notes and logs throughout the shift.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions closely to meet production, quality, and safety standards.

  • Operate an electric pallet jack to move materials and finished product as needed.

  • Support sanitation activities, including cleaning equipment and work areas according to sanitation procedures.

  • Contribute to basic quality assurance and quality control checks to verify product specifications.

  • Work effectively as part of a two-person team while also being able to perform tasks independently when required.

  • Follow all safety, food safety, and housekeeping guidelines to maintain a clean and organized production environment.

  • Communicate any equipment issues, ingredient discrepancies, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to consistently lift and move boxes or bags weighing 35 to 50 pounds throughout the shift.

  • Capability to perform manual, physically demanding work in a production environment.

  • Ability to read and write clearly to complete production sheets and follow written instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and paper documentation required for auditing.

  • Comfort working with production machinery such as refiners, mixers, silos, and tanks.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a two-person team.

  • Willingness to perform sanitation tasks and maintain a clean work area.

  • Basic understanding of general labor, production, packaging, and machine operation.

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate an electric pallet jack safely.

  • Reliable attendance and ability to work 3rd shift from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in production, general labor, or manufacturing environments.

  • experience in packaging, sanitation, QA, or QC within a food or similar industry.

  • Comfort working in environments with varying temperatures, including warm rooms up to approximately 95 degrees.

  • Strong note-taking skills and ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for the majority of the shift.

Work Environment

This is a 3rd shift role working from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday, in a clean and well-organized production facility. The environment is food-production focused and often smells like chocolate and sweets. Temperatures vary by room: the depo room is around room temperature, the panning room runs slightly cooler than room temperature, and the refining room runs warmer and can reach up to about 95 degrees in the summer. You will work closely with one other team member, performing manual tasks that involve frequent lifting of 35 to 50 pounds, palletizing, and operating an electric pallet jack. The facility includes a nice break room and areas inside and outside where you can take breaks. Appropriate attire for a food production setting is required in line with safety and sanitation standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Union City, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
