The Dean of Allied Health & Nursing is an administrative level position, a member of the Presidents Cabinet, and reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Dean provides vision and leadership for the Colleges Allied Health and Nursing pathways and programs. The Dean works in collaboration and consultation with the faculty, college administrators, and community partners to ensure academic excellence and equitable outcome attainment for SCCs diverse student body. Their primary responsibilities are to assist with mission attainment, increasing enrollment and student success, developing and expanding (credit, non-credit, dual credit) high-quality career pathways and programming, and championing a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Duties or Responsibilities:

- Program Leadership & Development
- Provide vision and leadership in the design, implementation, and assessment of Allied Health and Nursing pathways and programs.
- Lead the expansion of credit, non-credit, and dual credit career pathways aligned with the Colleges strategic plan.
- Coordinate curriculum development, including program approval processes for future offerings such as a Bachelor of Nursing or specialty programs.
- Oversee curriculum design and updates, including syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain current articulation agreements and ensure program transferability to other colleges and universities.
- Organize and maintain active advisory committees for all Allied Health and Nursing programs.
2. Accreditation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance and maintain good standing with all applicable accrediting and regulatory bodies, including ACEN, IDFPR, IDPH, and MAERB.
- Serve as the liaison with the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (ADN and LPN programs) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (CNA program).
- File required state and federal reports in a timely manner and maintain all related documentation.
- Coordinate and oversee ATI testing and manage related financial obligations.
3. Faculty & Staff Oversight
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate division faculty and staff in accordance with College policies and collective bargaining agreements.
- Recommend and implement professional development activities and plans.
- Handle disciplinary actions and recommend dismissal when necessary in consultation with HR and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Conduct regular program meetings with faculty to review issues, concerns, and initiatives.
4. Instructional & Clinical Operations
- Develop and manage instructional schedules and assign faculty for on-campus and off-campus instruction.
- Supervise CNA program coordinators to ensure high-quality training and community engagement.
- Plan for and recommend long-range goals related to program growth, equipment, instructional resources, and facility needs.
- Coordinate the assessment of prospective and current students.
5. Student Success & Support
- Resolve student concerns related to courses, instructors, and grade appeals in alignment with College policies.
- Champion initiatives that remove barriers and enhance student engagement, retention, and success.
- Maintain and regularly update the Nursing Handbook and other student-facing documents and resources.
6. Strategic Communication & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to update all program-related promotional materials.
- Maintain relationships with area hospitals and healthcare agencies for clinical placements and graduate employment opportunities.
- Participate in local, state, and regional organizations focused on improving nursing education.
