Job Title: HEADER MACHINE OPERATOR

Description:

Chicago Rivet is looking for a long-term committed employee for this role. Training in this role is similar to an apprenticeship position where a strong work ethic combined with dedication to learning this trade is preferred.

Setup and operate cold-heading equipment and perform other functions related to the production of fasteners. Must have tools necessary to perform all required job functions. Perform general departmental maintenance including machine cleaning, quality checks, documentation and inventory.

Job Responsibilities:

· Set up and operate cold-heading machines to produce rivets, by installing tools and dies in machines, loading materials, and making adjustments to machine using hand tools. This process will produce rivets to precise customer specifications.

· Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings/sketches, and written specifications.

· Verify and record conformance of parts to prints and any other specifications, using precision measuring tools, gages, micrometers, and calipers.

· For all materials used and at every reel change/loading, compare the material tag/label and the specification to verify the correct materials are being used.

· Continuously monitor multiple running machines to ensure efficient and reliable production of quality parts. Obtain support from quality, maintenance, supervisors, or others as needed in a timely manner.

· On a frequent basis, measure produced parts to verify conformance all quality requirements, as well as customer specifications listed on a blueprint.

· Perform general departmental maintenance including machine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and raw material and parts inventory. Maintain a clean and safe operating environment at all times for yourself and anyone accessing the department.

· Basic tools required: Assorted wrenches, zero to one-inch micrometer, six-inch caliper, pocket calculator.

Skills or Experience Desired:

O Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

O Trade School or High School Graduate with emphasis in machine shop training, automotive repairs, electro-mechanical repairs, or other technical training, AND

O Experience operating and/or maintaining machinery in a manufacturing setting, AND,

o Equivalent combination of education and experience.

General:

· Demonstrate commitment to personal safety and following all safety requirements; use PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection.

· Daily work in a standard factory and machine shop environment and frequent/high exposure to machine oils, lubricants, metal shavings, etc.

· Frequent lifting up to 70 lbs.
