Job Description
CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Performs maintenance, repair, inspection, and service work in County parks and public areas. Duties include mowing,
weed eating, weeding, equipment maintenance, garbage collection, cleanup duties and public restroom cleaning and
maintenance. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Parks Lead or Parks Director. The principal
duties of this class are performed outdoors and may include working in adverse weather conditions and hazards
involving the use of power tools, equipment and hazardous chemicals.
Duties / Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrative only and may vary by assignment)
Performs general park building and grounds inspection and maintenance, including mowing, trimming, weeding,
fertilizer application and irrigation system maintenance;
Performs general landscape and cleanup duties, including trash and debris removal;
Maintains and cleans public restroom facilities;
Inspects, maintains, and repairs benches, tables, slabs, receptacles, playground and recreational equipment,
playing ?elds, structures, and signs;
Maintains open spaces, lawns, ?ower beds and planting areas, and other park and public areas;
Performs turf, tree, ?ower, and shrub planting, trimming and pruning, and removal;
Performs routine maintenance and repairs on motorized, mechanical and grounds keeping equipment;
Repairs vandalism and performs maintenance on buildings and structures, including painting, plumbing, carpentry,
and related semi-skilled building trades work;
Assists during construction projects;
Assists other department and County employees as needed or requested;
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, procedures, and safety practices.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualifications
CLASSIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for an
individual to satisfactorily perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be successful in the position.
Knowledge of:
Grounds maintenance skills, including but not limited to, mowing, planting, weeding, pruning, irrigation, and turf
fertilization;
Building custodial skills including, but not limited to, cleaning restrooms, ?oors, windows, and ?xtures;
Building trade skills, including but not limited to, carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing;
Operation and maintenance of irrigation systems;
Grounds keeping equipment maintenance skills;
Federal (OSHA) regulations and County policies regarding safe work practices relating to use of heavy equipment,
power tools, and grounds keeping equipment.
Skill and Ability to:
Operate and maintain power equipment, including but not limited to, grounds keeping and turf equipment, riding
and walk-behind mowers, trimmers, and related equipment;
Operate hand tools;
Operate a motor vehicle;
Maintain maintenance records, logs, and documentation;
Speak clearly and communicate accurate information to others;
Use English to communicate effectively with others;
Listen carefully to, understand, and effectively communicate through oral, written, and interpersonal
communication channels;
Follow verbal and written instructions;
Work independently and exercise initiative, with general guidance and supervision;
Use good judgment to make sound and reasonable decisions and problem-solving skills to respond to customer
service needs in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and established policies;
Maintain a professional demeanor at all times;
Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High school diploma or GED;
Valid Idaho State Drivers License;
Idaho Dept. of Ag. Professional Applicator License;
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
