Suit-Kote Construction Foreperson in TULLY, New York
Job Title: Construction Foreperson Overview: Suit-Kote Corporation, a leading Asphalt products manufacturer, road construction and maintenance and asphalt application engineering company is seeking candidates for a Construction Foreperson. The Foreperson position requires strong leadership and communication abilities, A working knowledge of all aspects of heavy highway construction and a commitment to promote and enforce Suit-Kote policies, procedures, and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to observe safe work practices and operating procedures at all times. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.Responsibilities/Job Duties: Participate in planning work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner. Delegate tasks and accountabilities, instruct, supervise, lead and direct crew members. Engage in effective communication with the project team and report any issues which could affect project plans. Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met. Support sub-contractors, ensuring that work is completed safely and on time. Monitor and manage employee attendance, ensuring the timely arrival and participation of all crew members, and notifying employees of rain days, prior to the start of the work. Liaise between the company and employees on a variety of matters. Comply with relevant legislation regarding employee management, terminations and resignations. Handle and thoroughly investigate all employee concerns and exercise conflict and dispute resolutions. Verify that materials delivered to and incorporated into projects meet the applicable standards. Ensure that operations are completed in accordance with standard specifications. Read and interpret project plans and specifications. Complete, maintain and submit time keeping records, employee investigations, haul cards, sign logs, and other necessary paperwork in a timely manner. Conduct hazard assessments, tool box meetings, and employee training, to ensure a safe and effective work site. Operate heavy equipment and other construction duties as necessary. Required Skills/Abilities: Reliable transportation to and from work Strong work ethic Physical Organization and time management Knowledge of paving construction methods, road construction materials, heavy equipment operation and industry requirements. Flexibility in hours - overtime, night work, and weekend hours may be necessary Must complete ATTSA flagger training class and obtain certification. Working knowledge of general hand tools and power tools CDL License a plus Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conducted Consent to a DMV license evaluation Must have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certificate Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Observe and comply with necessary PPE requirements Must be able to work in a noisy area with many odors present Bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling and squattingOther Preferred Qualities: Ability to read and understand SDS Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) High school diploma or GED - a two-year technical degree is preferred Basic math skills Position is considered full time, but seasonal in nature, with anticipated lay-off in the November through March time-frame.
