Smurfit Westrock Stacker Operator in Tulare, California
Job Description:
Sets up and operates safely a corrugating system, producing sheets of corrugated sheets from rolls of paper. Remains accountable for product quality and production of scheduled items in a timely manner. Performs a variety of tasks while machine runs to supplement activities of the other stacker.
Change over and operate machine to produce 38k or more linear feet per hour of corrugated sheet.
Operate production system computer (Kiwi)
Operate/Adjust machine controls and computer
Visually inspect finished product; advise team leader as needed for adjustments to improve/maintain quality
Remove damaged/defective sheets from finished goods
Lift/Carry pallets, corrugated sheets and production supplies, up to 80 lbs.
Execute machine clean up procedures as required.
Execute weekly machine start-up procedures as required.
Report machine problems to team leader, as needed
Safety:
Follow all plant rules and safety rules
Follow housecleaning and sanitation rules
Report all accidents and injuries to supervisor immediately
Report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor immediately
Safety glasses must be always worn in the plant
Always wear hearing protection
Know lock out/tag out procedures
Apply lock out/tag out prior to entering machine-Example: clearing jam ups, cleaning hotplates.
Always wear Kevlar gloves.
Apply proper lifting technique when lifting any material.
Know and use the proper protection equipment for the job.
Must maintain all tools in good working condition and must notify supervisor when repairs or replacement is needed.
Be cautious when walking on conveyor rollers and using crossovers.
Keep machine area clean.
Know the locations of fire extinguishers, fire hoses and alarms.
Job Qualifications:
Safe work practice certification and one-hour annual training
Lockout/Tagout certification and one-hour annual training
Prior experience palletizing/stacking materials
Operate machine and move material in a safe and professional manner with indoor environment
Communicate effectively with team members in a very noisy work environment
Operate wireless two-way radio set to communicate with team members
Read and follow written and verbal job order instructions
Think and act quickly in a fast-paced production environment
The starting rate is $17.69 per hour, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
