Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Environmental Services Practice is seeking a mid to senior level project manager with at least 10 years of experience to support and/or lead complex mining and permitting projects across surface water and groundwater disciplines. This role is tailor-made for a dynamic leader who thrives on tackling environmental challenges, supporting and/or managing multi-disciplinary teams, and collaborating with stakeholders to address environmental permitting, compliance, and hydrogeology/hydrology issues and challenges. Regional areas of focus include Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, and Arizona.
Your Key Responsibilities
PROJECT LEADERSHIP: Overseeing a diverse portfolio of environmental, hydrogeologic/hydrologic, permitting, and compliance projects for both public and private sectors with a focus on the mining sector. Your extensive experience will help support and/or guide teams in the successful evaluation, permitting, and execution of complex resource impact analyses. Support, direct, and/or manage diverse projects, including environmental impact assessments, compliance, and permitting initiatives for mining projects including both surface water and groundwater assessments. Conduct proposal preparation (work scope, task-level budgeting, cost estimates), perform or review calculations, gather or review information, or prepare standard sections of proposals.
INNOVATIVE DESIGN AND PERMITTING: Applying your expertise in surface water and groundwater projects, from baseline hydrologic assessments/studies, groundwater well installation, aquifer testing, and environmental impact evaluations and assessments.
STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION: Engaging with local, state, and federal agencies, clients, and diverse stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and to craft creative, durable solutions tailored to each unique challenge.
MENTORSHIP AND IMPACT: Sharing your hands-on experience to mentor junior staff and inspire innovative approaches to impact analyses, water management and environmental protection.
TECHNICAL WORK: May include performing and leading project technical work; drafting technical reports including data entry/validation, developing tables and figures using analytical data and topographic/site maps, and QA/QC; preparing environmental permitting documentation to support conducting field work on groundwater sampling, drilling, well construction, soil logging and sample collection, and other baseline surveys; and construction oversight (environmental compliance).
Perform research, conduct environmental analyses (field and desktop), develop recommendations, and prepare technical reports under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) or other federal, state, and local requirements (laws, regulations, policies, and ordinances).
Provide quality assurance and quality control for all final products to ensure technical accurateness and regulatory compliance.
SITE VISITS: May include periodic field work, including mine or project site visits; coordinating and conducting field surveys or data collection; working with multidisciplinary teams to gather data; perform task management for sites undergoing assessment and/or active remediation.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
B.S. in geology, hydrology, planning and/or related engineering or environmental discipline; a master’s degree is desirable.
At least 10 years of relevant professional consulting and/or mining industry related experience, demonstrating progressive responsibility.
Thorough understanding of technical environmental impact analysis methods and sound knowledge of the mining industry, hydrology resources, including mine permitting and compliance issues, and related environmental regulations.
Proven expertise in tasks such as designing and implementing water monitoring networks, hydrologic baseline studies, and/or comprehensive permitting processes.
Experience with construction and mine reclamation oversight, remediation system operation and maintenance activities a plus, but not required.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with experience either presenting at public workshops and/or facilitating meetings with regulatory/resource agencies.
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize and balance sometimes heavy workloads to achieve goals while keeping up with a highly mobile and changing environment.
Must demonstrate an ability in collaborative problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates.
Must be a highly motivated self-starter.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Team player with demonstrated ability to work well with others, to keep other team members aware of project and client needs.
Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.
Prior to employment, Stantec may require a successful passing of a drug screen, alcohol screen, and/or baseline physical.

Pay Range:
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$117,800.00 - $176,800.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
