IBM Technical Support Engineer in TUCSON, Arizona
Introduction
DFSMS Technical Support provides client support and performs product readiness on IBM Z Storage Software Products. IBM Z Storage Software Products are commonly referred to as DFSMS. Most Fortune 500 companies rely on these products to manage their most critical data. Job responsibilities involve working within a team to assist in the analysis and resolution of client reported problems. Team members will also have the responsibility of managing client situations and maintaining customer satisfaction. A strong candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills and a strong programming or engineering background.
Your role and responsibilities
Debuggers, creative problem solvers and solution finders wanted. DFSMS (Data Facility Storage Management Subsystem) Technical Support is looking for individuals who enjoy scavenger hunts, puzzles, alternative numbering systems, and complex programming analysis. You will be working with a team of well known experts in the mainframe industry -with many patents and publications to show for it -to solve complex and technical defect related problems.
Required technical and professional expertise
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Science, or related field, and/or equivalent experience.
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
Acting in a respectful and professional manner to represent IBM to its high-profile clients
Working in high pressure, dynamic situations with a large degree of autonomy
Being agile and open-minded to quickly adapt to procedures and tools required for the position
Focused and results oriented with commitment to accuracy and attention to details
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem determination/solving skills
Knowledge or experience working with one or more of:
Operating system administration, command usage, or troubleshooting
Operating system internals (e.g., kernel, file system, networking, client-server, performance)
Programming and scripting languages (e.g., C, Java, Python, or Shell)
Data structure concepts and algorithms
Preferred technical and professional experience
z/OS assembler, PL/X or SVC dump debugging experience
z/OS support, development, test or system programming experience
Client facing technical support professional experience
Experiences working with a global team
