The Opportunity
This position applies knowledge of design principles, practices and implementation in complex systems and assignments. General responsibilities include deliverables of a systems development team, design concept generation, participating in design reviews, acceptance of team deliverables by assessing performance against design specifications and desired customer workflows and outcomes. The position ensures our assays work efficiently & effectively with the latest technologies and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with business stakeholders and systems development teams to translate customer needs into effective technological solutions.
Work with multi-functional teams, including R&D, Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Regulatory to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
Establish measurable criteria for User Stories and Features, formally accept work on behalf of the program, and ensure it meets the agreed-upon Definition of Done.
Break down Features into smaller, independent User Stories for seamless and incremental delivery.
Engage actively in agile processes, including iteration planning, daily sync-ups, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt events to drive continuous improvement.
Present system demos, deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders, and uphold a commitment to First-Time Quality in all project outcomes.
Demonstrate ability to integrate systems including automated staining systems, scanners, and software updates.
Execute project deliverables specific to requirements, risk, configuration management, defect management, and verification and validation in the company specific tool.
Who You Are
A BS degree (or equivalent) with 8 years of related experience; MS degree with 4 years, or PhD with 2 years experience in a directly related discipline.
Experience working in a regulated environment demonstrating familiarity with FDA, ISO, and other relevant regulatory standards for diagnostics products.
Proven expertise in requirements management, systems design, user experience development, and usability, with the ability to mentor others in these practices.
Strong systems thinking capabilities, creativity, and effective collaboration with technical teams to deliver optimized designs aligned with business needs and technological constraints.
Ability to translate business requirements and customer needs into actionable system design inputs while balancing alternatives and managing expectations.
Proficiency in prioritizing work based on evidence, applying lean design principles, and actively engaging team feedback before decision-making.
Preferred
Experience to build authority and accountability within a team with strong collaboration and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple priorities.
Familiarity with the assay development process.
Ability to influence others to get a consensus on the best solutions for Roche and the customer.
Ability to challenge existing designs or practices and think outside the box to be innovative in problem solving. Possess a mindset of taking initiatives in not only tackling, but following through on hard problems.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $108,200.00 - $201,000.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
