As a Business Development Manager within Cat Solutions & Services (CS&S), you will lead a high‑impact business systems development team that enables growth across Job Site Solutions (JSS), Condition Monitoring, and Caterpillar Safety Services . This role sits at the intersection of data, strategy, commercial execution, and marketing , turning insights into action and tools into growth.

You will shape how data, systems, and insights are used to support dealers and customers, strengthen contract execution, and accelerate CS&S growth within the Resource Industries (RI) and Construction Industries (CI) .

This is a unique, highly visible role with the opportunity to influence strategy, support dealer and customer growth, and build scalable processes that drive measurable business results.

What you will do:

Commercial Enablement & Tools

  • Develop and deploy analysis and business tools that support lead generation, portfolio growth, and commercial execution for CS&S.

  • Partner with dealers and internal commercial teams to design tools that directly support selling, contracting, and customer value creation.

Data, Insights & Performance

  • Leverage data and analytics to deliver actionable insights , performance metrics, and reporting for internal teams and customers.

  • Evaluate dealer and customer portfolios, contracts, and performance trends to inform decision‑making.

  • Drive improvements in data architecture, systems, and reporting capabilities .

Strategy & Business Systems Leadership

  • Own and execute the business systems strategy , ensuring alignment with CS&S growth priorities.

  • Drive velocity and execution across system enhancements, analytics initiatives, and cross‑functional priorities.

  • Deeply integrate and prioritize initiatives across JSS Commercial, Operations, and Condition Monitoring teams.

Communication & Alignment

  • Streamline critical communications across Product Groups, Go‑To‑Market (GTM) teams, and process partners.

  • Lead marketing and strategic communications to clearly articulate value propositions, insights, and growth opportunities.

People Leadership

  • Lead a team of 5 direct reports , including roles focused on IT/data, dealer development, and marketing communications.

  • Foster a collaborative, outcome‑driven culture with clear goals, accountability, and development opportunities.

What skills you will have:

  • Business Development: Strong business development and commercial acumen, with experience supporting sales, contracts, and portfolio growth.

  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of Resource Industries (RI) and/or Construction Industries (CI) business models

  • Customer Focus: Ability to partner with dealers, customers, and commercial teams to enable growth through tools, insights, and processes

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Strategic thinker with the ability to define, prioritize, and execute initiatives aligned to growth objectives. Strong understanding of data architecture, system enhancements, and metrics reporting

  • Effective Communications: Experience with marketing strategy and commercial communications.

  • Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.

  • Relationship Management: Ability to lead, develop, and inspire diverse roles.

  • Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

Additional Information:

  • The primary work location for this role is Peoria, IL or Tucson, AZ, with a requirement to work on-site full-time at a Caterpillar facility.

  • This role requires approximately 25% travel.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Summary Pay Range:

$159,120.00 - $238,680.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
