Job Title: Regulatory Affairs Specialist – Laundry & Home Care
Location: Trumbull, CT (Hybrid)
Hours/Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
Compensation: $30 – 35/hour
Type: Contract (12 months), Potential for extension or conversion to permanent
Overview
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports compliance activities for laundry and home care products across the U.S. and Canada. This role ensures formulations, labels, packaging, and documentation meet federal and state regulatory requirements throughout product development and commercialization. The ideal candidate brings hands-on regulatory experience in CPG or detergent products and thrives in a cross-functional, detail-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Review and approve label copy and artwork to ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian regulatory requirements.
Support Safety Data Sheet (SDS) development and ingredient disclosure obligations.
Evaluate raw materials, formulations, and packaging for compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
Document and approve regulatory assessments for formulas, labeling, and packaging components.
Interpret and apply regulations including FIFRA, TSCA, Prop 65, VOC regulations, Consumer Product Safety Act, and related programs.
Gather, manage, and enter regulatory data into third-party compliance systems and internal databases.
Develop and document regulatory processes to maintain compliance with government agencies and evolving requirements.
Partner with cross-functional teams to provide regulatory guidance during product development projects.
Manage project workload, prioritize deliverables, and communicate status updates to senior staff.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
1–3 years of regulatory affairs experience within laundry, detergents, or consumer packaged goods.
Knowledge of federal and state pesticide registration requirements.
Working knowledge of relevant regulatory programs including FIFRA, TSCA, and California Prop 65.
Experience reviewing product labels and regulatory documentation for compliance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across functional teams.
Nice to Have
Experience with SAP or similar enterprise systems.
Familiarity with EPA Safer Choice, Canadian New Substance Notification Regulations, Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, and VOC compliance programs.
Experience supporting or mentoring junior regulatory staff.
