Mechanical Engineering Technician (Cleanroom Manufacturing)
Location: Trumbull, CT
Schedule: Compressed Work Week (CWW) – Days & Nights Available

Are you a recent Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology graduate, or a trade/technical school graduate with strong mechanical skills? This Mechanical Engineering Technician role provides hands-on experience building, testing, and supporting high‑precision mechanical systems in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on mechanical work, problem-solving, working from drawings, and collaborating closely with engineers, with a clear path toward advanced technician or engineering roles.
What You’ll DoMechanical Assembly & Build Support
Assemble precision mechanical components and subassemblies following engineering drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials
Install mechanical hardware including fasteners, fittings, brackets, frames, and motion components
Perform alignment, torqueing, and mechanical fit‑up to specification
Support full system builds from subassembly through final integration
Testing, Troubleshooting & Validation
Perform mechanical and functional testing to validate system performance
Identify, document, and assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues during build and test
Support repair, rework, and corrective actions
Assist engineering with prototype builds and validation activities
Engineering & Manufacturing Support
Provide feedback to engineering on manufacturability and assembly challenges
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and pilot builds
Assist with updates to mechanical documentation and work instructions
Collect data and support continuous improvement efforts
Quality, Safety & Process Discipline
Follow all cleanroom, safety, and quality procedures
Maintain accurate build documentation and traceability
Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives
Who This Role Is For
This is an entry-level mechanical engineering technician role, designed for candidates beginning their careers in mechanical engineering or advanced manufacturing.
Required Skills
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic GD&T
Experience using hand tools and precision measuring tools
Strong attention to detail and quality
Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
Internship, co-op, lab, or shop experience
Experience with precision assembly or manufacturing
Familiarity with torque specifications, alignment, and mechanical testing
Exposure to Lean manufacturing or regulated environments
Experience supporting engineers or prototype builds
Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Trade school or technical certification with strong mechanical focus considered
Equivalent hands‑on mechanical manufacturing experience evaluated
Training & ScheduleTraining
Paid, hands‑on training provided
Initial training occurs on 2nd or 3rd shift for approximately 4–6 weeks
No prior cleanroom experience required
Compressed Work Week – Night Shift
12‑hour shifts: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
15% night shift differential
Built‑in overtime
CWW N1 Shift
Week 1: Sunday – Tuesday
Week 2: Sunday – Wednesday (every other Wednesday)
CWW N2 Shift
Week 1: Wednesday – Saturday
Week 2: Thursday – Saturday (+ every other Wednesday)

Cleanroom manufacturing facility

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Trumbull, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
