Automotive Training Project Manager - Location: Troy, MI
The Technical Training Project Management role is responsible for managing projects related to the development and delivery of automotive technical training to ensure contract deliverables are completed within quality, schedule, and budget requirements. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations, evaluate processes for continuous improvement, implement technology solutions, and manage training programs of a variety of size and complexity. Projects teams will vary in size from two to nine members and may include delivering training in a variety of formats. As a key representative of the company, this position will consistently maintain a positive working relationship with internal and external clients.
Roles and responsibilities include:
Lead the research, design, and development of training materials utilizing advanced techniques and technology driven solutions.
Lead various training delivery networks by creating schedules, cross-training instructors, and delivering training sessions as needed.
Conduct technical and program reviews with external clients and internal stakeholders, including program status to senior leaders.
Create process workflows, operations manuals, statement of works, and contract documents.
Project financial management including full P&L for assigned programs.
Required Skills:
Proficient with automotive service information and diagnostic support software.
Ability to work skillfully with highly technical diagnostic equipment, including scan tools, lab scopes, DVOMs, HVAC equipment, vibration diagnostic equipment, etc.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations and work environments.
Excellent interpersonal skills; working with customers and coworkers in a team setting.
Strong working knowledge in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio), internet and email.
Familiarity with AI tools used in developing course content.
Experience:
Minimum of five-years automotive technician experience.
Automotive instructor or public speaking experience.
Experience with OE and aftermarket parts and supplier processes/standards is a plus.
Experience in instructional design and adult learning principles.
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field is a plus.
Required Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Current ASE Certified Master A1 – A8 Automobile Technician (must be obtained within first year of employment) .
ASE A9, L1, L3, L4 and Section 609 certifications (must be obtained within first year of employment ).
Associates degree in Automotive Technology or OE Master Technician Certification.
Supervisory / Budgetary Responsibilities:
- Cost account management, cost/pricing for proposals, and earned value management.
Working Environment:
Work is performed in an automotive shop setting. Working in shop areas may involve exposure to various automotive fumes, fluids, noise, smells, sharp edges or bump hazards that require continuous use of personal protective equipment, i.e., safety glasses, gloves, and/or head protection. Work may involve standing, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
Physical Activities:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to operate a motor vehicle for up to five hours at a time. In addition, the employee is required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis such as automotive components and equipment, as well as papers, files, boxes, computers, etc. Manual dexterity and coordination are required in order to operate equipment such as a computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment.
