Universal Inc. Tandem and Belly Dump Driver in Trinidad, Colorado

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and safety-conscious Dump Truck Driver to operate tandem axle dump trucks and belly dump trailers. The driver will be responsible for transporting materials such as dirt, gravel, sand, and asphalt to and from construction sites and pits. The ideal candidate ensures safe, timely deliveries and strictly adheres to DOT regulations, including daily inspections and log maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Safe Operation: Safely operate tandem dump trucks and/or belly dump trailers on public highways, off-road, and within construction job sites.
  • Loading/Unloading: Ensure proper material distribution and secure loads with tarps before driving. Use in-cab controls to dump material efficiently at the designated location.
  • Inspections: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to check fluid levels, tires, lights, brakes, and overall truck/trailer systems.
  • Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance, such as greasing the truck, and report any malfunctions immediately to dispatch or maintenance management.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all DOT, OSHA, and federal/state traffic regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, timecards, and material delivery tickets.
  • Communication:  Communicate effectively by phone with dispatch and site foremen

Qualifications

  • License: Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience operating tandem/belly dump trucks in a construction environment preferred.
  • Driving Record: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Physical Ability: Able to climb in/out of the cab 20--30 times a day, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, dust).
  • Safety: Strong understanding of construction site safety

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years old
  • Pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Willingness to work long hours, early mornings, and potential weekends. 

Pay

  • $26.00 per hour DOE
