Laundry Attendant

Location: Prospect Plaza

Shift: Evening Shift (4:00 PM -- 7:00 or 9:00 PM)

Schedule: Part-time with flexibility to fill daytime shifts as needed

Position Summary

The Laundry Attendant at Prospect Plaza is responsible for providing excellent customer service while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficiently operated laundromat facility. This role includes customer interaction, drop-off laundry services, facility cleaning, cash handling, rental payment processing, and end-of-shift security procedures. The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling financial transactions.

Essential Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet customers warmly and professionally
  • Answer questions and provide assistance with machines and services
  • Address customer concerns promptly and courteously
  • Provide clear communication regarding pricing and services

Drop-Off Laundry Services

  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and package customer laundry
  • Follow fabric care instructions and proper chemical usage
  • Ensure accurate labeling and secure packaging of orders
  • Maintain quality control and timely completion

Facility Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean washing machines, dryers, and lint traps regularly
  • Sanitize folding tables, counters, and all surface areas
  • Clean and restock bathrooms
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and presentation of facility
  • Monitor for safety hazards and report maintenance needs

Cash Handling & Payment Processing

  • Process cash and credit card transactions accurately
  • Balance register and complete daily sales report
  • Collect rental payments for storage units, apartments, and motels
  • Write receipts and maintain accurate transaction records
  • Check IDs for storage customers and verify payment status

Security & Closing Procedures

  • Secure building at end of shift
  • Lock doors and verify all customers have exited
  • Ensure lights and equipment are appropriately shut down
  • Follow end-of-shift checklist procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable handling cash and financial transactions
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to lift 30--50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and fabric care
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
