New Jersey Department of Health Assistant Director of Nursing Services 1, Psychiatric in Trenton, New Jersey

DESCRIPTION: This position will be responsible for utilizing various methods like job postings on specialized media, social media, career fairs, networking events, and direct outreach to nursing schools and professional organizations to identify potential candidates. Nurse recruiters screen resumes and applications, and conduct interviews (in-person, phone, or video) to assess candidates' qualifications, experience, skills, and suitability for the organization's culture. Candidate assessment and matching: They evaluate candidates' clinical skills, credentials, licenses, and background to determine the best fit for open positions within the organization's structure. Negotiating and onboarding: Nurse recruiters negotiate job offers, compensation, benefits, and employment terms. They also assist with the onboarding process, including paperwork, background checks, medical screenings, and orientation. Building relationships: Maintaining strong relationships with nursing schools, professional organizations, and industry networks is crucial for building a talent pipeline and enhancing recruitment efforts. Work closely with hiring managers to understand their specific staffing needs, develop tailored recruitment plans, and ensure a smooth hiring process. Staying updated: Nurse recruiters need to stay current with healthcare industry trends, nursing regulations, licensure requirements, and recruitment best practices to remain effective in their role. Familiarity with recruitment techniques, sourcing strategies, candidate evaluation methods, and interview processes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Three (3) years of the required experience shall be in a first in-line supervisory capacity involving the care and treatment of psychiatrics, geriatric, or developmentally disabled patients.

NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the bachelor’s degree in nursing must possess one (1) additional year of non-supervisory experience.

LICENSES: Appointee will be required to possess a current professional license as a Registered Nurse valid in the State of New Jersey.

SUBSTITUTION: A Master's degree in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, or Health Services Administration may be substituted for one (1) year of the required non-supervisory experience.

LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
