Air Mobility Command Motor Vehicle Operator in Travis AFB, California

Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Youth Center at Travis Air Force Base, CA. Class A or B Driver's License is required. Physical Effort: Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier objects with assistance. Eligible to use base facilities such as: Base Exchange (BX), Gym, Outdoor Recreation, Library, Marina, Golf Course, Bowling Center, and the Arts & Crafts Center. Tuition assistance after one year! Responsibilities Drives one or more types of passenger buses which carry 16 or more passengers. Drives predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs. Reads maps and judges road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route. Provides friendly, polite and courteous service. Enforces passenger seatbelt use. May check I.D. cards to ensure authorization of passengers as required. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation. Maintains records and documents actions on operator inspection checklists/form and accident/incident reports. Uses two-way radio (or other device) to maintain communication with Youth Activities Center on assignments and locations. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe clean work environment. Qualifying Experience: Must posses a "Class B" drivers license. Must provide an approved medical form completed by the U.S. licensed doctor of medicine (M.D.). A medical report dated within the last two years must be provided initially and then kept current which means renewal every two years; experience operating buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers; be familiar with traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle operating (buses); and passenger safety rules. Must communicate orally; judge road/traffic conditions; read maps, interpret instructions, related to motor vehicle operation (buses); do preventative maintenance and ensure passenger safety. Must provide a copy of driving record. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
