JOB SUMMARY
As the Freight Payables Supervisor, you are required to lead and oversee the full Accounts Payable function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role manages AP staff, drives process improvements, partners with cross-functional leadership. You will play a key role in monitoring, supporting and coaching the freight payables team within a fast-paced, global logistics and customs brokerage environment. You will act as a subject matter expert and point of escalation, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across freight payables processes.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts payable team
Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and development
Deploy associates and solutions to resolve urgent vendor payment matters, and support vendor / agent payment and remittance requirements
Review and approve high-value/complex invoices, payment runs, journal entries, and exception items
Own end-to-end accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, payment execution, vendor maintenance, and vendor recovery
Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to resolve discrepancies and streamline processing
Re-enforce and maintain payable’s function complies with company policies, internal controls and industry best practices
Serve as the primary escalation point for our external and internal stakeholders
Provide analytical support for Finance, Procurement, business process owners, and operations teams
Partner with Finance and Financial Accounting leadership to ensure accurate accruals, reconciliations, and timely month, quarter and year-end close
Liaise with system administrators and vendors to troubleshoot technical issues and support enhancements
Conduct vendor management check-ins with the Freight Payables coordinators

Strong numerical aptitude and accuracy

WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED
5 years of related experience
EDUCATION
Preferred: Associates Degree or post-secondary education in Business or Accounting
CERTIFICATIONS DESCRIPTION
- Post Secondary degree in business/accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.
