Role Overview
The Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr. BSA) – Trade Finance & Working Capital Solutions is a senior-level delivery role responsible for eliciting, analyzing, and managing business and system requirements for complex application and integration solutions within the Trade Finance and Working Capital Solutions portfolio.
This role serves as a critical liaison between business stakeholders, Solution Architects, and engineering teams, ensuring business needs are accurately translated into clear, testable, and achievable functional and non-functional requirements. The Sr. BSA operates across the full delivery lifecycle—from concept and design through testing, production readiness, and post-implementation stabilization—within a highly regulated banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Systems Analysis
Partner with business stakeholders to understand business processes, product capabilities, regulatory needs, and operational workflows
Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements for application and integration solutions
Translate high-level business needs into detailed system requirements, use cases, user stories, and process models
Ensure requirements are clear, complete, traceable, and aligned to business outcomes
Solution & Integration Enablement
Work closely with Solution Architects to ensure requirements align with approved solution architectures and integration patterns
Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and support design decisions
Support integration analysis across upstream and downstream systems, including data flows, interfaces, and dependencies
Contribute to defining data mappings, interface specifications, and business rules for integrations
Delivery Lifecycle Support
Support Agile and Waterfall delivery models, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iteration reviews
Maintain requirements traceability through design, build, testing, and deployment
Support change management by assessing requirement impacts and managing scope adjustments
Participate in production readiness activities, including operational requirement validation
Testing & Quality Assurance
Define and review test scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria aligned to business and system requirements
Support functional, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
Partner with QA and business teams to validate delivered solutions meet intended outcomes
Assist with defect triage, root cause analysis, and requirement clarification during testing cycles
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Act as a primary point of contact between business partners and technology delivery teams
Communicate complex system behavior and constraints in business-friendly language
Facilitate workshops, requirement walkthroughs, and solution reviews
Ensure alignment across business, architecture, engineering, risk, and operations teams
Required Qualifications
Experience & Core Skills
8–12 years of experience in Business Systems Analysis or related roles within technology delivery
5+ years of experience in Banking or Financial Services environments
Strong experience working on enterprise applications and system integrations
Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
Experience working across Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologies
Functional & Technical Competencies
Requirements Artifacts: Business requirements documents (BRD), functional specifications, user stories, use cases, process flows
Integration Concepts: APIs, file-based integrations, messaging, data exchanges
Data & Formats: JSON, XML, relational data concepts
Non-Functional Understanding: Performance, availability, security, auditability, resiliency
Tooling: Jira, Confluence, Visio, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
SDLC & STLC Knowledge: Requirements traceability, testing alignment, release readiness
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Domain knowledge in Trade Finance & Working Capital products, including:
o Core Trade (Letters of Credit, Standby LCs, Documentary Collections)
o Supply Chain Finance (Payables, Receivables, Dynamic Discounting)
Experience working with large Canadian banks and enterprise governance models
Familiarity with integration technologies such as REST APIs, MQ, and SFTP
Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile BA, ITIL
