Jacobs Senior Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer (Design Lead) in Toronto, Ontario

We are currently looking for a Senior Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer (Design Lead) to join our Toronto office and take part in exciting and engaging water infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity.

You will have the chance to work on key infrastructure including:

  • Large and small diameter watermains and sewers

  • Distribution and collection networks

  • Pipe rehabilitation

As a Senior Water/Wastewater Conveyance Engineer (Design Lead), you will be responsible for supporting overall work progress and technical performance on projects. Working with other members of our team, you’ll work closely with business group project delivery leadership or other senior project manager/operations leaders who provide oversight and mentoring.

Key duties will include:

  • Oversight of engineering calculations and drawing preparation (e.g. hydraulics, pipe design, fittings and reinforcement, material and equipment selection)

  • Preparation and review of Technical Memos, Reports, and Specifications

  • Alignment selection

  • Chamber/station layout and design

  • Coordination of design with various stakeholders for permits and approvals

  • Leading coordination of multidisciplinary teams and supporting project management activities including scope, schedule, and budget

  • Participating in proposal development, client presentations, and business development efforts

  • Mentoring junior and intermediate staff to support team development

  • Supporting quality assurance/quality control review of project deliverables

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or applicable discipline and/or equivalent experience)

  • Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario

  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in an engineering consulting environment; 10+ years preferred for senior-level responsibilities

  • Experience managing and coordinating multiple disciplines on small to large projects, including the ability to successfully manage scope, schedule, and budget

  • Experience in design of large and small diameter linear infrastructure

  • Experience in trenchless design with methods such as HDD, TBM, and MTBM

  • Experience in condition assessment and rehabilitation (an asset)

  • Experience in proposal preparation and business development (an asset)

  • Experience with alternate delivery methods (an asset)

  • Experience designing using Autodesk and MicroStation software

  • Experience using hydraulic modelling software (an asset)

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills

  • Excellent report writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with clients, regulators, and municipal stakeholders

  • Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities
