Position Description
The Project Manager, FF&E manages the planning, coordination, procurement and implementation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) for redevelopment initiatives within the Project Horizon program at SickKids.
Working under the direction of the Senior Manager, FF&E, and in coordination with the Senior Project Manager, FF&E and broader FF&E Team, this role ensures equipment and furniture requirements are effectively integrated into design development, procurement planning, construction coordination, and operational readiness activities.
The Project Manager manages defined FF&E project scopes and works closely with clinical stakeholders, consultants, strategic sourcing teams, and operational partners to ensure furniture and equipment requirements are properly specified, procured, delivered, and installed in alignment with project timelines.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to one of the most significant pediatric hospital redevelopment initiatives in Canada.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
The Project Manager, FF&E core responsibilities include:
Coordinate and manage FF&E planning activities, including specification, procurement, delivery, and installation of FF&E for assigned healthcare redevelopment initiatives within Project Horizon.
Support the integration of FF&E requirements into architectural, mechanical and electrical design processes by coordinating with design consultants and project teams.
Support the development and implementation of equipment and furniture standardization strategies across Project Horizon initiatives where appropriate.
Coordinate clinical user engagement activities to capture and document equipment and furniture requirements and support validation of operational needs.
Work with external FF&E advisors and consultants to support equipment planning activities, including coordination of documentation, specifications and project information.
Assist in the preparation of procurement documentation, including specifications, tender documentation and vendor evaluation materials, in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing teams, Clinical teams and external FFE advisors.
Monitor FF&E budgets for assigned project scopes, including tracking costs and forecasting spend.
Track procurement schedules, equipment delivery timelines and installation readiness to support alignment with project construction and activation milestones.
Support move planning and operational readiness activities related to equipment delivery, installation and activation of redeveloped spaces.
Identify potential risks related to equipment planning, procurement and infrastructure readiness and escalate issues as required.
Work collaboratively with the broader Project Horizon team including Delivery Project Managers, Clinical reinvention Team and Project Control and Integration across Project Horizon initiatives.
Work closely with members of the FF&E team to coordinate project delivery activities and support consistent planning practices.
Maintain strong working relationships with internal partners, including Medical Engineering, Facilities Operations, Information Technology and clinical programs.
Participate in project committees, planning meetings and working groups related to FF&E planning and hospital redevelopment initiatives.
Support the implementation and maintenance of FF&E asset management systems, equipment inventories and associated planning documentation.
Here's what you'll need
Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare capital redevelopment, facilities planning, equipment planning or major capital project management, preferably within complex hospital or healthcare environments.
Experience supporting FF&E planning or procurement for capital projects.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams including clinicians and consultants.
Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Strong understanding of healthcare infrastructure requirements for clinical equipment and furniture.
Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent certification preferred.
Familiarity with the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive is considered an asset.
Familiarity with Construction Management and IOs P3 Delivery Models considered an asset.
Experience working with a PMIS is considered an asset.
Experience with Primavera 6 scheduling software is considered an asset.
Experience with CMMS applications considered an asset.
