Description
The Project Manager, Clinical Innovation and Implementation, is responsible for leading the implementation of Bootle Blast, a therapeutic video game designed for pediatric physiotherapy and occupational therapy. The primary objective of the role is to execute a defined implementation plan to enable deployment through hospital library lending models across Canada and support integration into clinical workflows.
Reporting to the Senior Scientist, the role focuses on structured project management, stakeholder coordination, risk mitigation, and implementation oversight. While a strong clinical background in occupational therapy and health technology innovation is required, the core function of the position is project execution rather than exploratory research or enterprise-wide strategy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the full project lifecycle for the Bootle Blast implementation initiative, including project charter development, scope definition, work planning, timeline management, and milestone tracking
Execute the approved grant methodology and ensure deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with funding requirements
Manage project risks, scope changes, and resource constraints; develop mitigation strategies to address implementation barriers
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders including clinicians, research teams, family leaders, librarians, partner sites, and funding bodies
Lead clinical co-design activities and needs assessments to support integration into pediatric rehabilitation workflows
Guide research tools, evaluation activities, and data collection efforts, including interviews, surveys, and focus groups
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform implementation decisions and continuous improvement efforts
Train and support clinicians, librarians, and technology managers in implementation processes and workflow integration
Co-lead Integrated Knowledge Translation (iKT) activities to support adoption and knowledge mobilization
Prepare reports, presentations, manuscripts, and implementation updates for stakeholders and funding agencies
Advise on product refinement, technology readiness, and workflow optimization within defined project parameters
Contribute to sustainability and commercialization readiness activities within the scope of the approved project
Key Requirements:
Knowledge
Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or a related health discipline (minimum requirement)
4–5 years of experience working in pediatric rehabilitation
10+ years of experience in the clinical technology sector (e.g. implementation, product development/consultation)
Strong knowledge of implementation science, project management methodologies, and clinical workflow integration
Experience with healthcare technology innovation and commercialization processes
Knowledge of research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
Skills
Strong project management skills, including scope, timeline, and risk management
Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to integrate data from multiple sources
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills across clinical, research, and community settings
Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities and prioritize competing demands
Ability to translate research findings into actionable implementation strategies
Abilities
Ability to work independently within defined project parameters and general organizational policies
Ability to exercise professional judgment while escalating significant decisions appropriately
Ability to lead interdisciplinary collaboration without formal authority
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Ability to adapt to evolving implementation needs while maintaining alignment with approved scope and objectives
