The role:
The Manager will be a shared resource within Planning & Forecasting team, supporting three key teams within the group. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, comprehensive and timely financial analysis to support the Canadian Banking Profit Plan, Forecasts, and ongoing P&L and profitability review.
Key areas of focus to support include:
Financial Reporting, Planning & Forecasting
Analyzing & modelling the Canadian Bank's results
Monthly and Quarterly financial deck
Ad hoc deep-dive analysis
Anaplan implementation project support
Canadian Banking Finance is a divisional finance function providing financial management and analytical support to Canadian Banking Executive Management, as well as to the Business Line Management in Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Business Banking and Tangerine.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
Prepare monthly forecast, annual Profit Plan, and 5 Year Outlook:
Ownership of timely collection of financial and non-financial data from business lines
Consolidation of business line forecast
Ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly update
Complete analytical review to:
i. Ensure completeness and reasonability of forecast, provide viable solutions to issues raised
ii. Understand the relevant performance of the business to plan/ actuals
Prepare monthly and quarterly report (including MMR/QMR) as well as other management reports for Senior Management
Anaplan Implementation Project
Support in the creation of business requirement and conduct user acceptance testing
Review and validate model design & data mapping to ensure accuracy & completeness
Prepare and submit data upload files as required and update project documentation
Process Documentation
Create detailed job aids, training materials, desktop procedures and documentation of the newly implemented reporting and forecasting processes
Assist in development of analytics and tools to improve the precision of planning and forecasting processes
Develop and maintain financial models to support the analysis and forecasting of key business drivers
Provide insightful and detailed analyses and modelling (ad hoc and regular) to support Director in delivering decision making insights to Senior Management
Support Director in the information gathering process and analysis for strategic and tactical projects requested by Senior management
Support ad hoc analysis requests as required
Build and maintain strong working relationships within CB Finance and CB business lines, product groups, Global Risk Management, Treasury, Capital Management and EO Finance
Work closely with other teams in Canadian Banking Finance to provide additional resourcing and support for special projects or during periods of peak demand
Maintain an effective system of internal controls over the planning, forecasting and reporting processes for CB and ensure that any EUC requirements and SOX controls are properly addressed
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
University degree (Analytics, Finance, engineering or quantitative discipline)
MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred
Minimum 2 to 4 years of relevant experience at a financial institution
Strong understanding of margin analysis and funds transfer pricing
Knowledge of Canadian Banking Retail and Commercial banking products is considered an asset
Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills; attention to details; ability to analyze business results and identify issues and trends
Proficiency in data visualization and creating impactful financial dashboards; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and any other analytical tools are preferred (e.g. Power BI, Python, Alteryx)
Prior experience supporting system implementation is an asset
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate findings/analysis and present ideas in a clear and concise manner
