TYLin Intern Engineering Designer, Water/Wastewater Process Engineering in Toronto, Ontario

Job Summary
Our North Toronto (Markham), Downtown Toronto (Wellington Street) offices are seeking a 12 to 16-month intern to support Linear and Vertical Water and Wastewater projects. The successful candidate will participate in a wide range of projects encompassing the full spectrum of analysis and design of municipal and private infrastructure works.
This position will report to a Project Engineer or Project Manager within the Water Sector team.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the project team in delivering projects, including the preparation of feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary and detailed design calculations, reports and drawings for water and wastewater infrastructure
Assist with applying for and obtaining required permits and approvals to proceed with construction
Perform engineering calculations and analyses for vertical water and wastewater projects such as pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities
Support design and analysis of linear infrastructure projects including water distribution and transmission systems, collection systems, watermain and sewer rehabilitation, and trenchless design
Pump and forcemain sizing, hydraulic modeling, process piping layout and design, linear plan and profiles
Condition assessment and asset management reporting
Infrastructure optimization strategies
Work on multiple projects simultaneously across different project phases
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Willingness and ability to learn new software tools and apply them effectively
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality results
Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing
Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or MicroStation is an asset
Experience with ArcGIS is an asset
Ability to learn approval processes, including local and provincial design guidelines and standards
Ability to learn planning and Environmental Assessment (EA) processes
High levels of integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and sustainable decision-making
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse and inclusive teams
Ability to manage workload and meet tight deadlines
Use of a personal vehicle is an asset
