Job Summary
TYLin is seeking is seeking a 4 month Intern with an academic background focused in Civil Engineering and an interest/focus in Traffic or Municipal Engineering to join our TYLin - City Solutions team. This position will be based in our Toronto, Ontario office.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You Will Do
Assist with the preparation of proposals and project schedules
Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary/detailed design for highways, roads, and intersections
Assist with area transportation studies, traffic operations and parking demand investigations, analyses and recommendations, and site impact analyses
Perform calculations and analysis using engineering formulas for design of municipal infrastructure such as roads, sewers, watermains in support of land development projects
Prepare grading and servicing plans in support of land development projects
Prepare sanitary and storm design sheets
Prepare erosion & sedimentation control plans
Assist in preparing contract specifications and tender packages, such as quantity take-offs, cost estimates, etc.
Assist in applying for and obtaining the necessary permits and approvals to proceed with construction
Review plot plans for houses
Assist with and provide progress status reports on a regular basis and as required
What You Bring to the Team (Competencies)
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear documentation and interacting professionally with clients and colleagues
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also able to effectively collaborate in a team environment
Strong commitment to integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and responsible behavior
Commitment to innovation and continuous learning, with a passion for acquiring new skills and driving improvements
Your Education and Experience
Currently enrolled towards a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or ArcGIS an asset
Prior experience in preparing transportation studies and functional servicing reports a plus
