What You'll Be Doing

As Director, Supervision & Governance within CIBC Capital Markets, you'll play a critical leadership role overseeing supervision activities across global markets. You’ll focus on Equities and FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities) supervision and surveillance, ensuring compliance with standards established by regulators worldwide. Your expertise in data governance, completeness, and regulatory effectiveness will be foundational to extending supervision and surveillance across all asset classes. You’ll lead quality assurance initiatives related to source system data transformation, build and publish monthly and quarterly reports, and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple regions. Additionally, you’ll provide guidance and training to team members, address regulatory risks, and support departmental goals and key projects.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $160,000.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How You'll Succeed

  • Supervision, Surveillance & Regulatory Compliance – Monitor daily data completeness within surveillance platforms, identify and escalate incidents, execute focused reviews, and ensure policies and procedures comply with global regulations. Maintain up-to-date technology tools for data reconciliation and minimize regulatory risk .

  • Reporting & Communication – Prepare and publish monthly and quarterly reports; communicate regulatory interactions, review findings, and technical incidents to the Department Head.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration – Maintain strong relationships with regulators, audit, compliance, and industry peers. Liaise with Lines of Business within Capital Markets, manage vendor relationships, and participate in industry working groups, committees, and projects as required.

  • Audit & Review Support – Assist with internal audits and regulatory reviews, remediate gaps, and provide feedback to stakeholders.

  • Training & Leadership – Provide oversight, guidance, and training to team members to achieve departmental objectives.

Who You Are

  • You have demonstrated experience. You bring at least 7 years of experience in Capital Markets, including Compliance and front-office support, with cross-asset knowledge (Rates, FX, Derivatives). CFA is an asset.

  • You understand global regulations. You have a strong grasp of the Capital Markets regulatory environment across Canada, the US, the UK, Europe, and APAC regions.

  • You give meaning to data. Your strong analytical skills enable you to assess complex data, drive quality assurance, and optimize supervision processes.

  • You communicate effectively. You excel at negotiations and ongoing communication with diverse stakeholders, including lines of business and infrastructure groups.
