About the Role/The Team: The Esoteric ABS team within the Structured Finance practice provides credit ratings and opinions for securitizations backed by a wide variety of nontraditional assets. In this role, the Director will be responsible for leading and owning the end-to-end rating process, demonstrating strategic perspective and leadership in research, cash flow, credit, and structural analytics, as well as client-facing activities for new issue ratings and surveillance of Esoteric ABS transactions. The Director is expected to set a high standard for collaboration, adaptability, and innovation within the team.

Impact and Responsibilities:
Impact: The Director is responsible for developing leading analytical research and ratings, meeting with issuers and investors on analytical matters, coaching and mentoring junior team members, resolving client needs, and taking a lead role in external meetings and communications related to rated debt issuers. This includes providing direction, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, and ensuring that all team members are empowered to contribute to the division’s success.
Responsibilities:
Lead and complete the end-to-end ratings process for new issue and surveillance transactions, ensuring effective time management and prioritization of competing demands.
Understand and perform cash flow analysis, synthesize results, and present findings in a timely manner in committees for esoteric assets, including triple-net, data centers, whole business, transportation ABS, and private equity.
Analyze credit, cash flow, and performance characteristics of collateral pools. Review third-party model output and reconcile with cash flow results from internal models.
Review legal and operating documents to ensure consistency with criteria and identify issues with the transaction structure. Provide comments to external parties.
Demonstrate adaptability and sound decision-making when navigating complex or ambiguous situations.
Actively manage relationships with internal and external clients, demonstrating emotional intelligence and strong communication skills to build trust and alignment.
Support the team by training analysts, attending conferences, engaging and leading outreach activities. Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and cash flow analysis and be able to handle clients’ analytical questions.
Leading and actively contributing to our training and outreach efforts, including the completion of timely commentaries, podcasts, and webinars.
All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
Compensation/Benefits Information: ( This section is only applicable to U.S. candidates): The anticipated base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $248,000 USD. The final base salary will depend on geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to Canadian Candidates:) S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is 190,000 CAD to 239,000 CAD. Final compensation for this role will be based on the individual’s performance, geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In accordance with Ontario's new regulations effective January 1, 2026, this job posting provides information on expected compensation. What We're Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 7+ years of relevant experience, within Structured Finance Ratings and experience working with Esoteric ABS or novel assets classes and legal ratings experience.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate complex analysis clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
Bachelor’s in business, Finance, Economics, a related field or CFA preferred
Strong proficiency with Excel, financial models and financial data
Ability to analyze and solve non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner by leveraging creativity and innovation in problem solving.
Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines under time pressure while demonstrating advanced time management strategies.
Ability to demonstrate analytical independence and objectivity
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team and across stakeholder groups, fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion.
Diligent and intellectually curious self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed with a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or CFA designation
Experience with cash flow modeling and financial market analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
Project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Experience adapting to regulatory changes or evolving market conditions
Track record of building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
