What You'll Be Doing

The goal of CIBC’s Capital Markets (CM) business is to be the premier client-focused Capital Markets based in Canada. To deliver on this, the capital markets arm of CIBC provides a wide range of credit, capital markets, investment banking, merchant banking and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate and retail clients in Canada and in key markets around the world.

The Client Data Management and Process Re-engineering (CDM&PR) team within Capital Markets Chief Administration Office (CAO) has the mandate to onboard all CM institutional clients, funds, shared clients and broker counterparties as well as to manage a robust and effective client lifecycle management process for clients. The CDM&PR team is also responsible for client data, its visualization, and data related initiatives primarily related to domestic and international regulatory reporting regimes. The team conducts its activities through internal and external research and interaction with numerous stakeholders including, Salespeople & Relationship Managers, Legal Documentation, Credit, Operations teams.

You'll join CIBC as a Director, Client Data & Process Automation within the Client Data Management and Process Re-engineering team. In this role, you'll oversee business intelligence and data analytics for the client data domain, supporting production, change initiatives, and strategic decision-making. You'll manage the development and delivery of client data reports, dashboards, and data quality measurement processes, working closely with data governance and technology partners. You'll also identify and implement smaller-scale process automation opportunities, ensuring compliance with CIBC’s enterprise policies and standards. As a people leader, you'll guide and coach team members, drive continuous improvement, and foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

How You'll Succeed

  • Business Intelligence & Reporting – Manage and support all aspects of client data reporting, visualization, and dashboards. Oversee the development of data quality measurement workflows and partner with technology teams to build efficient data repositories and flows.

  • Process Automation – Identify and manage a pipeline of process improvement and automation opportunities, leveraging available technology tools and adhering to AI governance and risk management standards.

  • Relationship Management – Build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients and stakeholders, including senior management, technology, capital markets, and operations partners.

  • Team Leadership & Talent Development – Provide leadership and guidance to team members, ensuring mandates are fulfilled. Support professional growth through coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.

  • Compliance & Risk Management – Ensure all products, reports, and processes are implemented in compliance with CIBC’s enterprise policies, including data governance, information security, and business-managed technology policies.

Who You Are

  • You have a bachelors degree or master's degree in computer science or related field.

  • You have extensive experience in data management. You bring 5-7 years of experience working with data, and project management experience is an asset. You’re skilled in data management techniques and best practices.

  • You’re comfortable with technology and analytics tools. You have hands-on experience with platforms such as Excel, Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Python, Databricks, Power Automate, SharePoint & Microsoft Power Suite. You quickly adapt to new technologies and software applications to drive results and efficiency.

  • You have a solid understanding of Capital Markets and regulatory requirements and products. You’re familiar with both domestic and international regulations, policies, and guidelines that impact business practices, and experience with AML/KYC and trade reporting standards (such as Dodd Frank, EMIR, MiFID, CAT NMS, IIROC, and others) is an asset.
