Summary

The Clinical Education Coordinator develops and facilitates the CEP Foundations in AAC course; develops, implements and supports the Individual Authorizer program; develops and coordinates professional education opportunities for AAC clinicians in Ontario; and engages in knowledge translation relating to AAC service delivery. CEP’s mandate is to support education of clinicians working as Individual Authorizers and in 27 AAC Clinics across Ontario. This position is hybrid and primarily work from home with the exception of onsite attendance to support workshops and education events. CEP is located at 57 Colville Road, Toronto, M6M 2Y2.

Please note that this would be an 18-month contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of a yearly education plan to meet the needs of the province.

  • Coordinate education events (e.g., online courses, workshops, webinars, vendors, journal reviews).

  • Develop, enhance and facilitate the Foundations of AAC Interprofessional online course.

  • Develop, implement and enhance education for Individual Authorizers working in AAC in Ontario.

  • Take a leadership role in the AAC professional community of practice in Ontario. Participate in committee work.

  • Support and coordinate AAC Community of Practice and resource sharing library.

  • Initiate information sharing mechanisms for clinicians to gain knowledge in AAC evidence based practice.

  • Promote and support best practice in AAC and knowledge translation to move research into practice.

  • Mentor, train and coach AAC professionals (including clinicians, technologists, and communicative disorders assistants).

Qualifications

  • Must be a Speech Language Pathologist registered with CASLPO.

  • Must have at least 5 years of experience practicing AAC clinically in Ontario with excellent clinical knowledge and experience.

  • Knowledge of service delivery options for populations (adult and pediatric) served by the AAC clinics and Individual Authorizers in Ontario.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ADP and CEP policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of AAC assessment, best practices, theoretical models and outcome measures.

  • Familiar with a wide variety of AAC equipment and solutions.

  • Familiar with educational needs of new and experienced AAC clinicians.

  • Skilled at developing content and teaching within online learning management systems.

  • Skilled in organization including planning, implementation, data collection and analysis and creative problem solving.

  • Capacity to handle multiple demands and priorities.

  • Ability to communicate and develop relationships with professionals, administrators and vendors.

  • Ability to work independently and on a team.

  • Experience in teaching and developing course materials.

  • Skilled communication both written and in-person.

  • Steady commitment to the field of AAC and CEP.

  • Adept interpersonal skills including facilitating, mentoring and coaching.

  • Experience managing costs and budgeting for educational events.

  • Mature and consistent approach.

  • Demonstrate and support a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
