Cognizant Business Systems Analyst (Azure, Databricks) in Toronto, Ontario
About the role
As a Business Systems Analyst (Azure, Databricks) , you will make an impact by translating complex business and data requirements into clear functional specifications that enable our teams to build high‑quality cloud data solutions. You will be a valued member of the data engineering and analytics team, working collaboratively with product owners, developers, engineers, and QA teams.
In this role, you will:
Lead the creation of functional specification documents, including source‑to‑target mapping (STTM) and data lineage documentation.
Perform data profiling, validation, lineage analysis, and data classification to support cloud data solution development.
Use SQL and Databricks notebooks to query, analyze, and validate cloud-based data sets.
Partner closely with business and product teams to understand and refine functional requirements.
Participate in daily stand‑ups, sprint ceremonies, and quarterly PI planning, providing clarity and direction to engineering and QA teams.

What you need to have to be considered
Proven experience creating source‑to‑target mapping documents and performing detailed data lineage analysis .
Strong expertise in data profiling , data analysis , and data validation.
Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
Solid understanding of cloud concepts , preferably within Azure.
Hands‑on experience using Databricks and notebooks to query and analyze cloud-based data.
These will help you stand out
Experience supporting cloud data migration or modernization projects on Azure.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including sprint ceremonies and PI planning.
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate requirements and data findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Exposure to data governance, classification standards, or enterprise metadata practices.
Ability to troubleshoot data issues and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve discrepancies.

Salary and Other Compensation :

The annual salary for this position is between $ 100,000 - $ 125,000 CAD depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
