We are looking for a Senior Materials Engineer to join our Mobility Group , based at our headquarters in Turin .

In this role, you will play a key part in materials analysis and problem solving, supporting root cause investigations through advanced laboratory testing and failure analysis. You will work on internal combustion engine valvetrain components as well as new product portfolio developments, evaluating both current and future materials and technologies.

You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory workflows and procedures, collaborating closely with Engineering, Quality, EHS, and Manufacturing teams to ensure high standards of safety, efficiency, and technical excellence.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and execute all failure analysis activities and metallurgical verifications on engine components in a teamwork environment.

  • Evaluate material properties of existing and new/improved products in line with internal and customer technical specifications, in close collaboration with Product Engineers

  • Perform and support laboratory testing activities on current and advanced valvetrain products, including metrological, metallurgical, chemical, and material evaluations

  • Select, set up, and verify test methods, measurement systems, and equipment for design verification, performance testing, and root cause analysis

  • Collect, analyze, and organize test data, preparing clear technical reports and executive summaries for internal stakeholders and, when required, customers or suppliers

  • Contribute to team problem‑solving and continuous improvement , identifying enhancements to designs, test methods, troubleshooting approaches, and laboratory procedures

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering preferred)

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in materials engineering or a related technical field;

Skills:

  • Fluent Italian and English, both written and verbal

  • Solid knowledge of failure analysis, materials mechanical testing, metallographic analysis, and material characterization techniques

  • Experience with mechanical component design and analysis, SEM/EDX operation, and NDT techniques

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and priorities

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to achieve results both independently and through others

  • Analytical and problem‑solving mindset, with a results‑driven approach

  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and eager to learn, with a clear willingness to grow professionally and take on increasing responsibility

Eaton announced, on January 26, 2026, the intent to separate its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) into an independent, publicly traded company.
