As an Operations Training Instructor II, you will design, deliver, and evaluate advanced technical and safety training programs to ensure regulatory compliance and foster a culture of operational excellence among gas utility personnel. You will serve as the bridge between complex regulations and field execution, developing high-impact learning experiences that directly enhance the safety and proficiency of the workforce.
What You'll Do
Develop and deliver advanced classroom, virtual, and hands-on training for gas utility operations
Design and update training curricula, manuals, and multimedia materials to align with regulatory standards
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for technical operations and emergency response protocols
Conduct competency assessments and Operator Qualification (OQ) evaluations per DOT Part 192 requirements
Analyze training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on performance metrics and feedback
Mentor and coach new instructors to standardize training delivery across the organization
Collaborate with leadership to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training solutions
Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA and DOT mandates
Perform other tasks as assigned or requested
What You'll Have
High School Diploma or equivalent
4+ years of experience in gas construction, pipeline replacement, or utility operations
Proven expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles
Advanced knowledge of DOT Part 192, PHMSA, and OSHA regulations
Technical proficiency in pipeline integrity, pressure control, and emergency procedures
Certifications such as OQ Evaluator, OSHA Trainer, or Instructional Design preferred
Strong facilitation skills for delivering technical training to diverse audiences
Ability to travel to multiple locations for training delivery
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, and virtual training tools

Work Environment
Work is performed in a 50% office and 50% field work at warehouse and construction sites
Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice
Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing
Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments
Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
