Job Title: Assembly Fitter Job Description

This role is responsible for assembling complex industrial machinery used in pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications. The position involves mechanical and utility-system assembly, working directly from engineering drawings to build large capital-equipment systems with high precision. Candidates must bring strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently in a job-shop environment. The work is hands-on, physically active, and essential to producing high-quality automated equipment used in sterile and controlled environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and utility-system components.

  • Read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.

  • Lay out, rig, fit, and assemble complex mechanical systems with a strong focus on precision and quality.

  • Work safely in physically demanding environments, including at heights and within confined spaces.

  • Support the build of capital equipment systems used in pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production schedules.

Essential Skills

  • Experience assembling complex industrial equipment, capital machinery, or large electro-mechanical systems.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently in a job-shop environment.

  • Hands-on experience with electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

  • Ability to bend, climb, work at heights, enter confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Willingness to work overtime, alternate shifts, and travel when needed.

  • High school diploma required; trade school background preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose mechanical issues during assembly.

  • Forklift, shipping, loading and unloading experience is a plus.

  • Comfort working with high-precision tolerances and industrial-grade components.

  • Familiarity with utility systems such as water, steam, compressed air, and electrical distribution.

  • Good communication skills to coordinate with engineering, quality, and production teams.

  • Adaptability to learn new assembly techniques and technologies over time.

  • Strong safety awareness, especially when working with heavy machinery, elevated areas, and energized systems.

Work Environment

High-tech industrial manufacturing environment focused on aseptic pharmaceutical processing and freeze-drying equipment. Climate-controlled production bays designed for precision assembly and testing. Large-scale equipment build areas for lyophilizers, aseptic fill-finish systems, and isolation technologies. Access to a development laboratory used for system evaluation, testing, and technical troubleshooting. Cleanroom-supported operations for aseptic-related manufacturing tasks. Work performed across two facilities: a 60,000-sq-ft facility and a new 80,000-sq-ft expansion on Colvin Woods Parkway (50,000-sq-ft production / 30,000-sq-ft office).

This is a Permanent position based out of Tonawanda, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
