System One Buyer / Planner in Toms River, New Jersey

Job Title: Buyer / Planner

Location: Toms River, NJ

Type: Contract To Permanent Opportunity

Compensation: $31.25 - $40.75 / hr.

Contractor Work Model: Onsite

Hours: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 1 hour unpaid lunch

Buyer / Planner Job Responsibilities:

  • Order materials needed for production (raw materials, packaging, supplies, etc.)

  • Review inventory needs and create purchase orders as needed

  • Work with vendors to get the best pricing, quality, and delivery timelines

  • Build strong supplier relationships and communicate any delays or changes

  • Track inventory levels and adjust based on demand and production needs

  • Partner with supply chain and other teams to resolve material or delivery issues

  • Look for ways to improve purchasing and inventory processes

  • Monitor vendor performance and address any delivery issues

  • Manage excess inventory and help prevent overstock or shortages

  • Collaborate with sales and vendors to plan for upcoming demand

  • Prepare inventory reports for management

  • Help ensure materials are always available to avoid production delays

  • Coordinate and schedule deliveries to customers

  • Handle customer shipment questions, changes, or issues

  • Act as a point of contact between manufacturing and other departments to support project timelines

    Buyer / Planner Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree and three to five years of purchasing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Professional procurement certification (CSCP) preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, proficiency with MRP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents, and communicate effectively with managers, vendors, and clients.

  • Strong mathematical skills to perform discounts, interest calculations, and other analyses.

  • Ability to apply common sense and solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, handle objects, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds; specific vision abilities required include close vision and focus adjustment.

  • Work primarily indoors in a moderate noise environment, following all safety protocols including PPE when in the plant.
