Job Information
Amazon Sr. Manager, Product Management, Amazon Furusato in Tokyo, Japan
Description
Position Overview
Our vision is to become the most trusted and innovative marketplace that connects Customers, Municipalities, and Selling Partners to enhance regional vitality across Japan, making local contributions more accessible.
Amazon Furusato seeks a Head of Product to lead our pioneering Regional Revitalization initiative. As Japan's innovative Hometown-Tax (Furusato-Nozei) marketplace, we are transforming how municipalities and local sellers connect with customers nationwide, revitalizing local economies through our technologies, logistics, and the trusted Amazon marketplace.
This leadership role offers a rare opportunity to lead and scale a product organization with substantial engineering resources both in Japan and globally—giving you the autonomy and support to quickly translate customer needs into innovative solutions, moving from problem identification to product launch with unprecedented speed and flexibility. Working with tech teams across Amazon WW, you will design and deliver breakthrough innovations unique to Japan.
The ideal candidate will bring crisp decision-making capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of building high-performing product teams. You will define product strategy, drive execution across complex stakeholder landscapes, and develop the next generation of product leaders while delivering transformative customer experiences.
Business Context
In December 2024, Amazon Furusato launched as Amazon's first dedicated Regional Revitalization marketplace, integrating with Japan's government-sponsored $8B Hometown-Tax (Furusato Nozei) market. This enables Amazon Customers to allocate a portion of their taxes to municipalities where they don't reside. Municipalities compete for individual's tax revenue by offering locally-produced products, mostly through dedicated online marketplaces, thereby creating a shopping experience that enables individuals to get "free" products for their taxes.
In December 2025, we launched Furusato Tsunagu—industry first and Amazon Worldwide's first system—enabling Sellers to convert their existing Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) offers into Furusato gifts. This breakthrough innovation significantly reduced the operational burden on municipalities by eliminating manual gift sourcing, and opened new sales channels for sellers, while strengthening our core advantages of Speed with FBA and Competitive Pricing.
