P&C Actuarial Analyst
JOB OVERVIEW
Participate as actuarial analyst in Aon’s Reinsurance Analytics Team, responsible to support our clients -- Japanese non-life insurers and mutual companies – for their better reinsurance arrangement, by pricing, design ing , and valuation of reinsurance programmes.
The candidate will lead the analytical / advisory tasks, on lines of business such as (but not limited to) property, engineering, casualty, marine, and credit. The analyst will also support the optimisation of catastrophe reinsurance programmes to support clients’ reinsurance and capital requirements; you are also expected to support our ReMetrica users in Japan.
Our Analytics Team consists of actuarial analysts, catastrophe modellers, engineers, financial analysts , and GIS experts. A large part of your responsibilities will involve interacting with Analytics colleagues , account managers (brokers), and clients throughout the Japan ese market , the Asia-Pacific regio n, Europe, and US. Our working environment is dynamic, global, and non-hierarchical, where you can work freely and independently, yet are expected to be supportive to other colleagues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide actuarial analysis / probabilistic financial analysis to support clients’ decision making for their reinsurance buying for lines of business such as (but not limited to) property, engineering, casualty, marine, and credit
Organize client data, check data for reasonability, parameterization, build financial models, run simulations, put together reports, and share insights with colleagues and clients
Manage analyses and projects from start to finish; r esponsible and accountable for quality and accuracy of all analyses performed ; liaise with local and global colleagues where necessary, p roduce high quality reports in timeframes agreed upon and communicate the results to clients in easy-to-understand manner
Develop financial models – mostly in ReMetrica: Aon’s risk & capital modelling software -- to analyse and evaluate financial projections and various reinsurance strategies
Do presentations and conduct training sessions internally and externally relating to actuarial work and methods
Take initiative for or participate in various internal projects to improve processes, develop new products, or bring new services to our clients
Support ReMetrica marketing activities: user support and sales activities for prospects
Conduct research and keep teams updated on industry / regulatory developments that affects clients’ reinsurance decision making
EXPERIENCE
3+ years of actuarial experience in non-life insurers (pricing, reserving, or risk management)
High proficiency in MS Office suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access)
Experience in the following an advantage:
DFA (Dynamic Financial Analysis) software usage (ReMetrica, Igloo, or MetaRisk), for reinsurance optimisation and reinsurance pricing, or risk management
Various actuarial pricing techniques such as experience rating and exposure rating
Familiarity with programming languages (i.e., R, Python, or SQL)
An understanding of the reinsurance industry and product lines
Regulation and financial accounting
SKILLS
Fluency in Japanese and English (both oral and written)
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Self-learner, fast-learner, problem-solver, and team-worker
Ability to work independently yet cooperatively
Ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic, and global work environment
Accuracy, thoroughness, and strong attention to detail s
Curiosity and flexibility to tackle and enjoy various kinds of ad-hoc tasks
MINIMUM EDUCATION / DESIGNATION
Have passed multiple exams of the Institute of Actuaries of Japan (IAJ) or other actuarial societies
Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science or related quantitative field such as Mathematics or Statistics
