Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is building a world-class last mile operation in Japan. AMZL aims to exceed customer expectations by ensuring orders are delivered quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively.
The Amazon Logistics Japan Process Engineering team is seeking a Process Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the standardization and optimization of our Last Mile delivery network to meet safety, customer experience, productivity, quality, and cost goals.
The successful candidate will support the optimization of AMZL Delivery Stations by contributing to process innovations, developing safe and efficient equipment, and supporting infrastructure design standards. You will partner closely with regional Operations and Operations Support teams to identify best practices and contribute to their establishment as JP AMZL network design standards.
This role involves regular communication with local functional business owners and technical Engineering teams. You will support the development, piloting, and deployment of design changes while contributing to JP continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is based in Tokyo. The position requires regular domestic travel and occasional international travel (approximately 15% of work time).
Key job responsibilities
Support equipment and process design – Assist in the design, piloting, and deployment of equipment and processes that improve safety, ergonomics, operational cost, capacity, and throughput across AMZL Japan delivery stations, under the guidance of senior engineers.
Contribute to standardization and documentation – Support the creation and maintenance of design process standards to ensure consistency in equipment specifications and operational processes across the Japan network.
Execute project delivery – Manage individual projects from concept through implementation, coordinating with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, and Tech to deliver on time and within budget.
Identify and support solutions to operational challenges – Conduct site visits and data analysis to identify operational pain points, and support the development and validation of engineering solutions that deliver measurable improvements.
Build technical knowledge and reporting skills – Develop technical expertise in assigned areas, prepare progress updates and reports for senior engineers and leadership, and contribute to alignment with network-wide engineering roadmaps.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering
3+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
Knowledge of process improvement, ideally including Lean, Kaizen and Six Sigma
Experience managing projects
Experience working with data and leveraging analytics to make decisions
Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
Experience working with multiple groups of stakeholders
Experience using modeling, project management, CAD and software programming tools
Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
Knowledge of safety standards and ergonomic design principles
Japanese language ability (conversational or business level is a plus)
