Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as the Japan Medical Information Lead. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the Japan Medical Information (MI) service and the co-management of the local MI team. In this role you will be a driver of change and thrive in a global environment where you play a key role in influencing without authority cross functionally.

Job Overview

  • OverallaccountabilityfortheleadershipandmanagementoftheMIservicein theJapanaffiliate

  • Accountable for ensuring inspection readiness of MI servicein theJapanaffiliate

  • Co-management of affiliate MIteam member(s)along with International MIRegionLead

  • AccountableforensuringthattheMI function in theaffiliaterespondstounsolicitedrequestsforinformationinan accurate, consistent, compliant, andtimelymanner

  • Ensure the identification,reportingandrecording ofadverseeventsandproductcomplaintsinatimely mannerinaccordance withprocedural documents

  • Act as a point of contact withaffiliate stakeholders to ensure the MI function supportsadequatelytheneedsof local teams

Responsibilities

Routine responsibilities may include the following:

  • OverallperformanceoftheMIdepartment/teamin the affiliate

  • Along with International MI Region Lead,coach,andsupporttheprofessionalgrowthofJapan MIstaffmembers

  • Developandimplementplan, in collaboration with theInternational MIRegion Lead,toensurethestructure,scope,supportmodel,andresourcesofthe department can meetanticipatedchanges in workload

  • Workcollaborativelywithseniorleadership,JapanCountry Medical Director, andtheTAleadsinMedicalAffairstoensurethedepartmentis successfully supporting therapeutic area strategies, and influencing outcomes whererequired

  • WorkcrossfunctionallyacrosstheGileadenterpriseandrepresentGMIonlargerinitiatives. Cross functional partners include, but are not limited to: Global Patient Safety, Quality and Medical Governance, Regulatory Affairs, Legal/Business Conduct, Medical Affairs

  • WorkcloselywiththeleadersofotherGMIteamstoensurethepracticeofMIis consistently applied

  • Work closely with MI content leads and GMI TA teams to ensureappropriate MIresponse documents are available for use inJapanmarket, and that regulatory inspection expectations are met

  • Act as lead contact for MI function in theJapanaffiliatefor external regulatory inspections and the internalGxPauditprogram, liaising with direct reports and other functions as needed

  • Create,update,orimplementpolicies,SOPs,businesspractices,andworkinstructions, as needed

  • Analyzedepartmentalmetricssothatpatterns, trends,andissuesareidentifiedandsharedwithsenior management and other internal stakeholders

  • Participate inglobal initiatives / working groups andprojects,asneeded

  • Knowledge of industry Medical Information common practices, adverseeventand product complaint reporting.

Education and Experience

  • Pharmacy,NursingorMedical/LifeSciencesdegree/advanceddegreeorequivalent

  • Typically requires6+yearsrelevant pharmaceutical industry or similar experience. An advanced degree (PharmD, MD) ispreferred.

  • Experience in Medical Information, call centermanagementand oversight isrequired.

  • ExperienceinleadershipinMIorworkinginahealthcareenvironmentrequired,withcountry / affiliateexperience preferred

  • Experienceinthepharmaceuticalindustryrequired

  • ExperienceofworkingwithMIvendorsrequired

  • Peoplemanagementexperiencerequired
