Overview
The role is for a senior, client-facing leader responsible for shaping and scaling social-first brand ecosystems. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, account leadership, content, culture, data, and business , driving modern social solutions that deliver both cultural impact and commercial results.
This is not a traditional creative role . It is for someone who lives and breathes social , where culture is not something you research, but something you actively participate in, and content is not an output, but a way of thinking. Someone who understands platforms instinctively, speaks the language of business fluently, and can confidently lead/challenge clients and teams into new ways of working in social.
You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, connecting brand ambition to culture, content, creators, communities, and performance —while building long-term partnerships and sustainable growth for the agency.
Responsibilities
Client & Business Leadership
Act as senior day-to-day social lead and strategic counselor for key clients, owning relationships and guiding decision-making across strategy, content, creators, community, and performance
Drive revenue growth and retention, with accountability for a significant portion of the social business (existing scopes and new opportunities)
Lead strategic conversations that connect social to broader business objectives, the full funnel, and long-term brand growth
Partner closely with account, creative, media, analytics, and production teams to deliver truly integrated solutions
Strategy & Social Architecture
Own end-to-end social strategy: platform role definition, content frameworks, creator strategies, community models, and always-on vs campaign approaches
Develop and lead high-quality strategy outputs (playbooks, POVs, roadmaps, launch frameworks, decks) that are clear, actionable, and client-ready
Translate data, insights, and cultural signals into strong strategic direction—not just reporting
Act as a clear point-of-view leader on platform evolution, emerging formats, trends, and regulatory changes—proactively advising clients on what matters, why it matters, and what to do next
Content, Creators & Production Fluency
Oversee social content development in partnership with creative, community, and production teams—ensuring work is social-native, culturally relevant, and built for platforms, not adapted to them
Lead influencer and creator strategies from selection through execution and measurement, grounded in relevance, credibility, and performance—not vanity metrics
Understand production realities across creator-led, mobile-first, and higher-end productions, guiding teams and clients toward the right level of craft for the objective
Team Leadership & Ways of Working
Lead, mentor, and grow strategists and junior talent, setting a high bar for thinking, curiosity, rigor, and collaboration
Build new ways of working that break silos across strategy, content, media, performance, and analytics
Champion knowledge-sharing, experimentation, and continuous evolution within the Social & Content practice
Growth & New Business
Support and lead social strategy across pitches, renewals, and growth opportunities
Help shape and represent Publicis’ social POV in the market, contributing to thought leadership and case-worthy work
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
Strong background in social and content strategy within an agency, consultancy, or platform-driven environment
Proven experience leading social programs for major brands (CPG, automotive, lifestyle, beauty, tech a plus)
Deep, hands-on understanding of the social ecosystem: platforms, creators, paid amplification, community, social listening, and measurement
Strategic mindset that looks beyond posts—able to build long-term, scalable social systems
Commercially minded, confident in revenue, scopes, and senior client conversations
Strong client presence: clear, confident, pragmatic, and trusted
Naturally social and culturally plugged-in—actively consuming, creating, and engaging with content and communities
Data-literate, culturally curious, and driven to challenge conventions in how social is done
Experience in Japan (or strong sensitivity to market and cultural nuances) a strong advantage
