Duties
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws by patrolling assigned areas to deter and respond to criminal activity
- Conduct thorough criminal investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare detailed reports
- Respond swiftly to emergency calls, accidents, and disturbances, providing first aid or CPR as needed
- Perform surveillance operations to monitor suspicious activity and ensure public safety
- Manage conflict situations with professionalism and tact to de-escalate potential threats
- Assist in animal handling and care during incidents involving animals or animal-related law violations
- Write comprehensive reports documenting incidents, investigations, arrests, and other law enforcement activities
- Drive patrol vehicles safely while maintaining awareness of surroundings and potential hazards
- Support community outreach programs to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and residents
Experience
- Prior experience in law enforcement or military service is highly desirable
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage stressful situations effectively
- Knowledge of criminal investigation techniques and law enforcement procedures
- Certification in first aid, CPR, and surveillance operations preferred
- Experience in conflict management and loss prevention strategies is advantageous
- Ability to handle animals responsibly during related incidents or investigations
- Strong report writing skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with immigration law or security protocols is a plus
Requirements
- O.P.O.T.A Certification
- 21 years of age or older
- H.S. graduate or equivalent
- Valid Ohio driver's license
- No felony convictions
- Good moral character
- Pass full background investigation
- Pass polygraph/Psychological
- Pass physical/drug test
