Aston Carter Workforce Administration Supervisor in Thurmont, Maryland

Job Title: Workforce Administration SupervisorJob Description

As the Workforce Administration Supervisor, you will lead a team dedicated to supporting plant operations in recruitment, retention, payroll, benefits administration, and other administrative functions. You will collaborate with plant leadership, production employees, workforce development, and human resources to ensure effective management and support across the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a department of administrative personnel to ensure timely and accurate support to leadership and hourly employees.

  • Lead and mentor assigned administrative personnel through regular coaching sessions, providing feedback and professional development opportunities.

  • Ensure the department is properly staffed, participating in hiring and termination decisions with management.

  • Engage in hourly workforce planning with plant leadership to achieve facility goals and objectives.

  • Manage the plant's hourly recruiting process, ensuring a robust and compliant hiring process.

  • Source qualified candidates and coordinate with external staffing and advertising providers.

  • Administer hourly job postings and candidate progression through the applicant tracking system.

  • Oversee administrative processes, including payroll reporting, personnel changes, new hire orientations, and leave administration.

  • Recommend and support retention initiatives to maintain staffing levels and promote a positive workplace culture.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on recruiting campaigns and onsite hiring events.

  • Ensure compliance with all administrative rules, policies, and procedures, reviewing reports and spreadsheets regularly.

  • Coordinate communications and activities during annual internal audits.

  • Assist with plant safety metrics administration and record-keeping.

  • Support plant scheduling and coordination of functions and trainings, including safety and corporate trainings.

  • Facilitate plant focus groups, track feedback, and provide recommendations to plant leadership.

  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 5 years' administrative experience, including at least 2 years' progressive leadership experience.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.

  • Full Cycle Recruiting experience.

  • Proficiency in new hire onboarding processes.

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree strongly preferred.

  • Fluency in MS Office tools, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Experience with timekeeping and/or HRIS systems.

  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

  • Capability to cross-train and travel to other plants and locations as needed.

  • Experience handling confidential information.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated coaching abilities.

  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and a commitment to customer service.

  • Outstanding reliability, planning, and organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in human resources and workforce management.

  • Familiarity with benefits administration.

  • Ability to engage and coordinate with corporate HR teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing plant, operating Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM or 7 AM to 3:30 PM. The position is part of a team supporting the Thurmont plant, which consists of 500 employees. As a working supervisor, you will coordinate reporting, manage new hire orientations, and participate in recruiting and employee relations activities. The team will consist of four members once fully staffed.

This is a Permanent position based out of Thurmont, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $68000.00 - $78000.00/yr.
