The Safety Operations Manager is responsible for developing, leading and managing the manufacturing safety program for all plants and ensuring a high level of employee engagement and compliance with state and federal safety and health requirements. This position will develop the overall safety strategy and drive best practices in the plants related to safety plans, accident prevention and management, training, inspections, reporting, and employee engagement in safety initiatives.

This role is located in our Thurmont Maryland plant and provides service across the entire NVR Manufacturing footprint.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to all Manufacturing plants on best practices for engaging the workforce in safe work practices and ensuring a culture focused on proactive solutions to reduce/eliminate safety accidents.

  • Ensure best practices are followed in all Manufacturing plants when it comes to safely onboarding new employees and ensure proper training as employees move to new roles and departments.

  • Drive best practices, advise, and train plant safety leadership and Committees on internal safety audits, accident investigations, root cause analysis, internal & external safety reporting, and safety initiatives & programs.

  • Ensure consistency in accident management as it pertains to OSHA and DOT, and assist plant and corporate personnel as needed. Identify trends and patterns in accidents and implement accident mitigation programs.

  • Conduct periodic safety inspections of all manufacturing plants and manage any necessary third-party audits. Follow-up with plants to ensure timely corrective action and sustainability of findings.

  • Develop and maintain a written safety plan and best practices for all manufacturing plants and ensure compliance with state and federal safety and health requirements.

  • Ensure consistency and compliance with all training requirements from OSHA and other regulatory agencies, so each plant stays up-to-date with current regulations.

  • Develop and implement plans to meet or exceed Manufacturing’s yearly business objectives, initiatives, productivity, quality, and delivery goals as they apply to occupational safety and health.

  • Conduct periodic reviews of plant safety programs to ensure compliance with established protocols.

  • Coordinate responses to safety citations with Building Products senior leadership and NVR Corporate Compliance personnel. Partner with plant leadership to drive necessary corrective actions.

  • Aid in the onboarding and training of Safety Coordinators, Supervisors, and Managers for all manufacturing plants.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in safety leadership with a demonstrated track record of achieving results and developing teams

  • OSHA-30 certification desired

  • Proficient in regulatory compliance and risk management, with expertise in industry standards and regulations

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and conflict management skills

  • Demonstrated expertise communicating effectively with all levels of an organization

  • Proven ability to drive organizational improvements and work cross-functionally to achieve performance goals

  • Demonstrated proficiency in prioritizing, decision-making, adapting, and managing multiple deadlines

  • Ability to travel to other NVR plants and locations, as needed

    This position pays $100,000 to $115,000 per year. This position may be eligible for a bonus.
