Job Title: Industrial Electrician
Job Description
This role seeks an experienced industrial electrician with strong 3-phase 480V and industrial troubleshooting experience to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment. You will diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools, identify the root cause of breakdowns, and implement effective repairs. You will connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components while consistently following all safety regulations and using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Responsibilities
Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Maintain electrical equipment in compliance with applicable country, state, and federal regulatory codes.
Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous electrical tasks as required.
Use shop tools, including both hand and power tools, safely and proficiently during installation, maintenance, and repair work.
Apply mechanical knowledge to support troubleshooting, installation, and repair of electrical systems and related equipment.
Program and adjust variable frequency drives (VFDs) to support equipment operation and performance.
Safely operate a forklift and manlift when required to access equipment and work areas.
Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related control systems to resolve equipment and process issues.
Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, including in elevated or confined areas.
Test electrical systems and verify continuity of circuits using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure system compatibility, functionality, and safety.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components to determine causes of breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
Work effectively in a hot, cold, dirty, and fast-paced industrial environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Take initiative as a self-starter while also following directions and work orders as assigned.
Communicate clearly with machine operators and setup personnel to gather information, troubleshoot equipment, and minimize downtime.
Adhere to all safety regulations and consistently use required PPE, including steel-toe footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, and ear protection.
Train on first shift for an initial period, then transition to assigned shift based on operational needs and seniority.
Be available to work 6–7 days per week and perform overtime as needed, including work on Sundays.
Perform other electrical and maintenance duties as assigned to support production and facility operations.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
Hands-on experience with 3-phase motors and 480V electrical systems.
Ability to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures.
Strong troubleshooting skills for industrial electrical systems, including the ability to diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components.
Proficiency in testing electrical systems and verifying continuity of circuits using ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and similar testing devices.
Ability to read and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Competence in programming and working with variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to support electrical maintenance and repair work.
Ability to safely and effectively use a wide range of hand and power tools.
Capability to perform work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs, including lifting, climbing, and working in elevated positions.
Ability to work in hot, cold, dirty, and fast-paced industrial conditions.
Good communication skills to effectively interface with machine operators, setup personnel, and other team members.
Ability to follow all safety regulations and consistently use required PPE.
Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift and remain open to any shift assignment as required.
Willingness to work 6–7 days per week, including overtime and Sundays, as needed.
Possession of a certified journeyperson’s card (or equivalent contractual status) or documentation of a minimum of eight years of relevant trade experience on company letterhead.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Journeyperson or journeyman electrician status, or equivalent documented trade experience of at least eight years from previous employers on company letterhead.
Experience as a maintenance electrician or industrial electrician in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
Experience in conduit installation, including conduit bending and pulling wire.
Experience installing and maintaining three-phase motors and related controls.
Experience with maintenance technician duties in addition to electrical responsibilities.
Exposure to PLC troubleshooting and programming across various platforms.
Experience working with Fanuc robots or other industrial robotics systems, with all robotics experience considered transferable.
Ability to perform rigging activities safely in support of equipment moves, installations, and repairs.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-sensitive environment.
Self-directed work style combined with the ability to take instructions and follow established procedures.
Comfort working in a unionized environment and following established work rules and seniority-based shift assignments.

Work Environment
The position is based in a very fast-paced, deadline-sensitive automotive manufacturing facility. Work is performed in an industrial setting that can be hot, cold, and dirty, with frequent exposure to active production equipment and moving machinery. The environment operates on multiple shifts, and you must be open to working any shift as required, with current needs focused on 2nd shift (2:00 PM–10:00 PM) and 3rd shift (10:00 PM–6:00 AM). New hires typically train on first shift for approximately two weeks to two months before moving to their long-term shift assignment, which is determined by operational needs and seniority. You will work in a union environment and become part of the union after a defined period of employment. The role involves frequent use of hand and power tools, test equipment such as meters and oscilloscopes, forklifts, and manlifts, as well as interaction with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial robotics. Personal protective equipment is mandatory, including steel-toe footwear, a hard hat, safety glasses, and ear plugs. The facility operates 6–7 days per week, and you should expect regular overtime, including weekend work, while maintaining strict adherence to all safety protocols.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $83200.00 - $85280.00/yr.
