Design, develop, debug, and support enterprise GIS applications within an ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 environment. This role focuses on GIS web application development, enterprise service integration, and collaboration with application, data, and infrastructure teams to support production systems. The position requires hands-on experience with Esri GIS technologies and proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, develop, implement, and support enterprise GIS applications within an ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 environment
Develop GIS web applications using Esri technologies such as Experience Builder, Web Maps, and Web Layers
Develop custom mapping and spatial solutions to support business and operational needs
Support and enhance integrations between ArcGIS services and custom enterprise applications
Publish, manage, and maintain map and feature services across multiple environments (Dev, QA, Prod)
Analyze functional requirements and recommend appropriate GIS and application-based solutions
Collaborate with application development, data, and infrastructure teams to support production systems
Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to support GIS publishing, validation, and maintenance
Utilize GIS and organizational best practices to manage and maintain enterprise GIS data and services
Learn and assist with geoprocessing workflows using standalone tools, scripting, and automation
Participate in scheduled platform maintenance and operational support activities
Assist and mentor less experienced GIS team members as they become familiar with broader responsibilities
Develop and document standards, workflows, and best practices related to GIS applications and services
Provide ongoing support for GIS technical infrastructure including web, server-based applications, and supporting databases
Stay current on developments in GIS software and enterprise application technologies and recommend improvements
Job Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
Required Experience:
2+ years of experience developing GIS or web-based applications
Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, ArcGIS Server, hosted services)
Experience developing GIS web applications using Esri technologies
Experience with scripting and programming languages
Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and REST-based services
Familiarity with Linux environments and basic command-line usage
Understanding of how applications consume APIs and GIS services
Experience supporting applications in production environments
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Preferred Experience:
Experience with custom application development (Java, JavaScript frameworks, or similar)
Full-stack web development experience
Experience integrating GIS services into non-GIS enterprise applications
Experience with enterprise authentication methods (OAuth, SAML, single sign-on)
Experience communicating via APIs, reading from or writing to message queues, and interacting with geodatabases
Familiarity with DevOps tools or CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
Experience with enterprise databases (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Google BigQuery)
Experience with ETL tools and data pipelines
Experience with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) is a strong plus
Experience working in high-availability or enterprise production environments
