Program Chair – Echocardiography
JOB SUMMARY
The Program Chair is responsible for coordinating program faculty under the direction of the Dean and/or Vice President for Academic Affairs.
MAJOR DUTIES
· Coordinates activities as part of the Academic Leadership Team; makes expeditious and sound decisions on issues related to the performance of duties and responsibilities within the position’s authority and the organizational structure of the college;
· Supervises and provides support to faculty as designated within the organizational structure of the college; orders books and materials for effective delivery for coursework; ensures adherence to faculty work schedules and office hours; observes and documents effectiveness of adjunct faculty; ensures administration of and reviews course evaluations by students;
· Coordinates faculty recruitment and hires in designated areas with academic affairs and human resources in compliance with college hiring procedures; verifies appropriate faculty qualifications under supervision of the Dean;
· Conducts faculty performance evaluations in accordance with college procedures for fulltime and adjunct faculty;
· Ensures efficient course section implementation to maximize program and college resources;
· Works with program faculty in the curriculum review process; recommends curriculum changes to Dean;
· Leads program development and ensures consistency in curriculum in all venues, including participation in the curriculum review process, implementation of revised curriculum, and the design and implementation of program evaluation system;
· Recommends program/course scheduling to Dean; ensures compatibility with other program areas where applicable; ensures appropriate faculty loads;
· Assists faculty in addressing all aspects of verifying program learning outcomes, including identification, review, revision, measurement and analysis of said outcomes;
· Assembles Unit/Program Plans to ensure continuous improvement, in compliance with college, TCSG and SACSCOC policies and procedures;
· Organizes and participates in at least two program advisory committee meetings per year at which program curriculum, facilities, equipment, and admission are discussed in keeping with college and TCSG procedures;
· Designs, implements, and submits required reports and documentation for national and state program accreditation;
· Participates in college accreditation and review processes;
· Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports as required by law and administrative regulations;
· Works to ensure the consistent exercise of academic policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and other criteria or guidelines;
· Prepares academic program budget for Dean approval; ensures program faculty adherence to budget and purchasing requirements;
· Participates in program enrollment processes, including advisement and registration;
· Oversees the development, review and revision of course syllabi;
· Oversees and manages experiential learning components of the program area (i.e., live work, practicums, simulated environments, and internship courses) by updating and maintaining the required documentation and monitoring and supervising students;
· Maintains comprehensive student performance, proficiency, and attendance records;
· Orients new faculty on college policies and procedures; assigns faculty mentors as appropriate;
· Assists faculty in the attainment and continuance of program-specific accreditation
· Compiles program statistics;
· Formulates and implements program recruitment, retention, graduation and placement plans;
· Oversees advisement of program students and ensures program faculty participate in student advisement process;
· Performs student advisement with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information regarding career choices, career preparations, job opportunities, and other needed occupational information;
· Projects and monitors program enrollment;
· Maintains contact with business community to keep abreast of technological changes, community needs, and assists in student placement
· Reports any faculty absences, student grievances and appeals, and other matters in accordance with college procedures; participates in the student academic appeal process;
· Coordinates catalog reviews for programs under assigned supervision;
· Facilitates procurement of program/course equipment and supplies;
· Plans and implements a lab management and safety plan to ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area;
· Teaches courses within the program;
· Evaluates students’ progress and performance, knowledge, and skill in attaining goals and objectives in subjects/courses being taught on a regular basis and provides timely feedback to students; and
· Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Vascular Technology/ Echocardiography
· Registered Vascular Technologist
· CPR Certified
· A minimum of three years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field
· Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to the minimum qualifications:
· Education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning
· Excellent written and verbal skills
