Our Behavioral Health RN's play a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is being treated at Union Health. Nurses on this unit focus on providing stabilizing care to return to the community for acute mental health crisis. The RN's serve as part of the multidisciplinary team in which you will work with the patient and staff to create a patient-centered recovery plan to provide tools necessary for success.
This unit is led by Nursing Care Manager, Kayla McDonald, RN, and Director, Anastasia Godsey, LMHC.
Essential & valuable nursing skills gained on this unit:
Care of a variety of mental health needs
Interdisciplinary care including a team of nurses, physicians, mental health technicians, and mental health professionals
Management of person-centered recovery planning ?
Whole body mental health and physical health evaluations
Medication training groups

RN Job Duties:
Essential Job Duties :
Demonstrates clinical knowledge of psychiatric nursing, including knowledge in growth and development, psychopathology and psychsocial systems
Displays effective communication skills as evidenced by the ability to maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff
Is able to set limits as needed by recognizing potential behavior problems and does so in a caring and consistent manner
Utilizes the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, and intervention and evaluation; completing documentation timely.
Participate in initiation of master recovery plan and treatment team meetings
Administers prescribed treatment and medications correctly.
Competent in restraint/seclusion and follows hospital policy
Conducts patient groups and evidence by documentation in patient medical record
Has a basic understanding of appropriate staffing patterns and nursing care hours, and is able to maintain appropriate levels in the absence of unit manager/program director
Demonstrates skills in admission, discharge and transfer of patients
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited ASN or BSN program
Must have Indiana RN license
Previous RN experience preferred
License/Certification :
BLS certification
IN RN license
