The Surgical Oncology RN’s plays a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is in at Union Health. 3ec provides care of patients after general surgery, and also provides care of cancer patients undergoing treatment or experiencing diagnosis related concerns.

This unit is led by Nursing Care Manager, Jennifer Meyer. She has been with Union Health since 2009 and has been leading this unit since 2017.
Essential & valuable nursing skills gained on this unit :
Care of the surgical patient post-operative to discharge
Care of CVAD and PICC lines
Wound vac and wound care
Foley insertion and care of CBI
Nasogastric tube insertion and maintenance
Ostomy care and teaching
Chemotherapy administration
Chest tube care and maintenance
Epidural care and maintenance
JP and Accordian drain care and maintenance
Blood product administration

RN job details:
Essential Job Duties:
Collaborates with the physician or manager to determine needs of patients
Completes the routine physical assessment using common assessment skills in a systematic manner.
Contributes to plan of care for pre-defined patient problems.
Respects patients' rights, including the right to inform, privacy, confidentiality, and the right to refuse care.
Assists with patient education to promote self-care and patient independence.
Follows company policies and procedures and department protocols.
Assists the physician with special procedures.
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited ASN or BSN program
Must have Indiana RN license
Previous RN experience preferred
License/Certification:
BLS certification
IN RN license
