Job Title: Production Group Leader
Job Description
The Production Group Leader is responsible for overseeing daily production operations within a designated production area, product line, or department. This role provides leadership, guidance, and support to production employees to ensure work is performed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with quality and delivery expectations. The Group Leader serves as a key point of contact across shifts and departments to address production, quality, and operational issues.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily production activities, including output, quality, scrap management, and on-time delivery.
Monitor and adjust staffing and shift priorities to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Ensure employees follow established manufacturing procedures and use required tools and materials.
Conduct effective shift change communications to ensure continuity across shifts.
Collaborate with other Group Leaders and support departments to achieve business objectives.
Serve as the first point of contact for support groups to resolve minor production or quality issues, including off-shift support when necessary.
Interpret quality specifications (IPC and customer requirements) when Quality support is not available and escalate issues appropriately.
Identify training needs, support employee onboarding, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Partner with the Production Manager to address team issues, performance concerns, or minor conflicts.
Promote and enforce health and safety standards, including SDS interpretation and process improvement with the authority to stop processes or reject assemblies due to quality concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or relevant on-the-job experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Self-directed with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior leadership experience or involvement in continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
Ability to learn and use ERP systems and internal databases.
Continuous improvement, Production, Mechanical Assembly, Electronic Assembly, Blueprint Reading, Lead Experience.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise, frequent interaction with machinery and mechanical parts. It requires regular standing for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 10 lbs routinely and up to 25 lbs occasionally. The work involves occasional bending, squatting, and exposure to chemicals. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
